We all have at least one of those incredible women in our lives.  You know the one who read you bedtime stories, changed your diaper, cheered you on at all your baseball games or ballet recitals.  Yes, mom.  Some of us are lucky enough to still have our mom's with us, some of you will celebrate with the mother of your children, don't forget grandma's and mother-in-law's too.  It's that one day of the year that we are reminded to stop and thank mom's for all that the...

More than 40 percent of all reports made to the FTC are related to Identity Theft.  Businesses and Individuals spend more than 300 million hours every year to deal with Identity Theft.

Going by the statistics, at least one person that has been a victim of Identity Theft is close to you.  Identity Theft is not always a result of what you have or have not done.   Lots of information regarding your identity is handled by companies and goverment organization you have wo...

What a nice treat late yesterday when I realized my A/C decided to stop working.  I'm sure some people like you Michigan folks might be laughing, but considering it's getting near 90 degrees here in Florida, I am just ticked.

Well nothing I can really do now except wait and hope someone can come out today and fix it.

I watched an excellent movie last week. It was called Darkon, and it is a documentary which examines the phenomenon of LARP, or Live Action Role Playing. Now, this is role playing in the Dungeons and Dragons Style, and Darkon is in fact an entire make believe world where people take roles and act them out in real life. Check out the web site for the Darkon Group here.

One of the people in the movie pointed out a fact which has inspired me to do some thinking. He said that everyone role plays ...
I'm back in California for a few months.  In my last entry I shared that my MIL died here so now we have a house and we've decided to stay - Nuts I know.  Who wants to live in CA?  The politics and laws are all screwed up (I'll write more about this another time.)  But we have a house on some land in a very nice little community so we couldn't pass up the opportunity.  Besides, my husband has been wanting to move west for more than five years now.

I've been doin...

I don't want to make it sound like I regret being able to spend time with my boys when they were little.  I am so glad that I had that time with them.  I just never thought I would be in the situation I'm in now.  I thought my marriage would last forever.  I also thought that when I was ready to go back to work, it would not be difficult for me to find a job.  It seems I have been wrong on both accounts.

I am not divorced yet but my marriage has been rocky for years a...
I was watching 20/20 last night with John Stossel.  Anyone watch that?  It was about teens having sex and the messed up lives that followed as a result.  A big portion of his focus was about the 18 year olds having sex with 15-16 year old girlfriends and ending up on the Sexual Offender Lists all across the country.

Once you get on such a list, there is no getting off.  So for just about all these young men their lives have been drastically limited as to what th...

My little man has finally decided what he wants to be when he "grows up."

At first he couldn't decide between this and a dinosaur.  But looks like this won out.

So we took this picture this morning for posterity.

Watch out bad guys!
IT'S ANOTHER BOY!

Yep, just found out for sure!   Of course Amanda had to tell me because my son couldn't get the words out......geeeeesh!  He's a terrible tease.

So, with three boys and two grandsons, I'm still waiting for that girl.

For now, the pink and white Nikes are safe with me.

Boys are fun!

But I'm still waiting for my girl.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN & AMANDA & ETHAN

A couple of times a year I go over our finances and try to get a good look at "where we are at".  One of the things I try to do at these times, is cut back on any unneeded or unnecessary monthly expenses.  Now I don't do this because of the economy, or that I am in financial trouble, I do it because it's a smart thing to do.

The easiest way really is to just go over my accounts online and take a detailed looks at the charges throughout the month.  Little things add up over time...

Gavin wants to know if he can shoot squirrels this summer in our yard with the BB Gun his grandad gave him on our trip to Mississippi this past summer.

hahaha

I told him squirrels are a little harder to shoot than a Styrofoam cup.

He thinks he's Wild Bill Hickock.

Back story....

1)Today is a big unit function that is so we can celebrate the great, wonderful support that this group gave our soldiers while they were in Iraq. It starts before the kids get out of school, so I have to pick boy up early.

2) Last night, after Boy's Parent Teacher Conference (yeah, he's doing great.) the electrical system on the van went all wonky.  The lights and blinkers didn't' work.  The sliding doors wouldn't open.  Grr.  So we headed over to the Ho...

Hunter, my twelve year old, went for his yearly physical.  The Dr. said "he's started puberty."

We jokingly refer to him as our "pre-teen" but if he's in puberty, seems like he should already be a teenager.

Some things I've noticed about him in the last few months.... He likes to spend free time alone in his bedroom.  He has a computer, tv, all the toys, but he only games on the weekends.  It's not just that he likes to do it, but it seems like he really hates doing things w...

Over the last several years I've seen what can only be called 'rapid aging' by my father-in-law.  Sadly, like this writer, he was a man that never seemed to make or find the time to go see a medical doctor to get himself checked up or have any outstanding issues looked at.  I don't know if he just had a fear of Doctors, or of hospitals and surgery and such, or just never really felt that bad, but he clearly had some medical issues that needed to be dealt with but weren't.

Now, I don't want to be giving away too much personal information here, either for myself or my father-in-law, so I'm gonna skimp on details, but provide just a little basic information to fill in some blanks.
