Object Desktop 2008 was just released, so I created a screencast which walks you through what is included with both Object Desktop 2008, and Object Desktop 2008 Ultimate. Each application gets a brief overview, along with a look at Impulse. This is great for anyone who might not be too familiar with the popular applications that are included.

I don't know where to even begin exploring this process. We have a category in our gallery called Sidebar Styler. I use this app frequently. I like side bar styler better than desktop sidebar as DS does not like my system...causes multiple crashes. There are not many Bars available in the gallery so I thought I might give creating one a go. I cannot find any instruction on to skin for this app. Does anyone have any idea how to go about making bars for use with Sidebar Styler??...
Hi,
I am currently looking for a freeware tool to enchance the tray of windows (the area where all mini icons are).
Is there really anyone here who isn't tired of the sounds in either XP or Vista? The sounds in Windows Vista seem much better than in XP, but even with that, hearing them everyday just gets so old.
In comes SoundPackager. I always relate SoundPackager to IconPackager simply because both use "packages" to change their respective items. One of the best things about SoundPackager is that not only does it change a bunch of system sounds at once, it also allows you fine tune the ...
Title is self explanotary. I downloaded several DX widgets like to do lists or email notifiers, but everytime i wanna enter text I hear a "ping" and no text. What is wrong? Please
I'm not sure when this started but I just noticed it in the last couple of days.
When I open my My Pictures, My Music, and My Videos folders the picture in the bottom right hand corner of the window is always the one for My Pictures. I applied about a dozen skins that have different pictures for each folder in the wba file and they all had the same result.
What makes it even stranger is that it occurs only on my C: drive. My backup drive shows the correct pictures for each fo...
Well it's a short week here for some of us, but I still wanted to get This Week in Skinning out. The 3rd WinCustomize Community Contest deadline has come, and from last count we have over 27 entries in the various categories. The entries have been superb, and I can't wait to see the winners. This was also an exciting week in that both IconDeveloper 2.0 and SkinStudio 6 were released. In case you missed it, there is an IconDeveloper tutorial and screencast up showing you how to ...
This screencast is a companion to the article I wrote about creating and recoloring Windows icons using IconDeveloper 2.0. The full tutorial can be found here.

IntroductionIconDeveloper 2.0 from Stardock was recently released, so what a better time than now to start some walkthroughs about it. IconDeveloper doesn't get as much attention as other Object Desktop applications, but it's one of the best ones out there for icon creation and modification.
IconDeveloper is not an icon image "editor", what it does is allows users to create their icon with graphics applications such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, then import them into IconDeveloper whe...
I can't help but notice that the server's time is 2 hours off from EST. Did someone set the server's clock back instead of forward?
The Stardock Design website has gotten a re-design. But what should the About page say?
I was thinking something like this:
---
Stardock has long been a pioneer in developing first-to-market technology for the PC market. It was the company that essentially created "skinning" technology on the PC with products such as WindowBlinds, DeskScapes, DirectSkin, DesktopX, IconPackager, ObjectBar, and more. Through Stardock's technology, Windows users cou...

Object Desktop 2008 Guided Tour
Introduction
Object Desktop is the defacto standard when it comes to changing your Windows experience. If you want to take control over how Windows looks, feels, and functions, Object Desktop is the way to do it. Since its original release for Windows back in 1999, Object Desktop and its components have garnered millions of users worldwide. Parts of it have been licensed to virtually every major technology company you can think of at one time or other.
Over the years, Object Desktop got bigger..and bigger...and bigger to the point where it had dozens of programs that came with it. Needless to say, it became a little unwieldy for the average user. So for 2008, Stardock has split the product into two versions:

Just occured to check in my Vista snapshot to see if TGA thumbnails were visible natively - appears not.
Thumb Plug TGA available from http://greggman.com/pages/thumbplug_tga.htm is an old standby for making TGA thumbnails visible in XP
Is this still a preferred option for XP, and what if anything is the preferred option for Vista?
