As much as I missed my Mediterranean, I'll tell you what I didn't miss -

Last week there was an AP article direct from Washington explaining there would be a whole new lingo  regarding the....I'm not sure what to call them now.......but were previously labeled "jihadists or al-Qaida" Anyhow this is what they said:

It looked as though all was lost for Senator Barack Obama, just a few weeks back. How he faught back. He won very convincingly in North Carolina winning nealy 93% of the Afican-American vote and nearly 40% of the rest of the state. Yet another opportunity for Congress to really stimulate the U.S. economy and achieve long lasting positive change -- how about putting some effort into offering customers that are trying to unload gas guzzling SUVs and large pick-up trucks some financial incentives that will help soften the blow that those drivers would be facing if they trade in those guzzlers?

I'm not going to clip any of that article becuase in reality the headline basically tells the story, and/or you've probably already heard, as I heard today, anecdotes from friends, neighbors, co-workers and the like that tell tales of car dealers that just won't even take the old gas guzzlers in trade, in effect trapping customers in their old vehicles (if they aren't paid off) or leaving them with so little value in trade that the customers just can't afford to buy the new econo-box that they want (because it would allow them to use less gas).

I haven't had an opportunity to write my article about being a military spouse yet...well, more like the brain space required that is currently full of final exam material.  This article just popped up on my Navy Reserve news listserv and I wanted to share it with y'all.

This is for all us military spouses.

Last weekend, I went back to the college where I finished up in December for graduation. It came on top of a long week, which meant that I was thoroughly and utterly exhausted by week's end. Add to that an extremely uncomfortable bunk in the trailer we stayed in and I was happy to get back home.     Gun control is a pesky issue. What level is needed? I believe that psychological reviews, as well as criminal record checks should be necessary for gun purchases. However, I believe that there should be a minimal amount of control on the weapons themselves. Outlawing all weapons leads to only criminals...

Madison Wisconsin is about as liberal as a city gets. This is the kind of place where you find Che Quevera posters on street bulleton boards and the only reference to Bush will be preceded with "impeach" or followed with Sucks.  It's a place where people trash Nancy Pelosi because she's too far to the right.

Britney Zimmerman was a 21 year old student at UW-Madison. Being a law abiding citizen, she didn't own a gun... after all, why would anyone need a gun in a downtown apartment.  ...

Back in the last presidential election, Michael Moore was wined, dined and given a place of honor at the DNC convention.  Why?  Because he said exactly the same things Wright said.

Cindy Whatsitsname was a media darling.  Ever word that came from her lips was carried through the media like a clarion call.  Why?  Because she said exactly what Wright has said.

Ok, I just heard what I think would win the prize as the most Stupid protest cause ever.

It seems there are some feminists who take issue with the use of a "stick man" on signs. They are whining that there should be a female equivalent.

Note to the mindless... just picture it as a girl wearing pants, and call it a "stick figure".

With the U.S. economy apparently (gee, you think?) in the crapper, several politicians are falling all over themselves (and falling all over others -- example, see McCain followed by Clinton, somewhat countered by Obama on the idea of a gasoline tax holiday) to come up with ideas to help out the U.S. consumers (read that as: VOTERS) by putting more money into their pockets (see economic stimulus bribes, I mean prebates...) or by letting us keep more of the money we make (again, see that proposed gasoline tax holiday).

What the politicians seem to be missing is the idea of finding things to spend money on (i.e., stimulate the economy) that will have long term positive effects on the economy as a whole.

    Now, this article will be terribly pessimistic, but it's from a secular standpoint more than a religions one.
