This is for people that use Norton Antivirus and had to Restore your computer.
Situation:
You have installed a 2006 or later versions of a Norton program, such as Norton AntiVirus 2006, Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton Personal Firewall 2006, or Norton SystemWorks 2006. You run the Windows System Restore to restore your computer to a previous point. When you do, you see:
Message: "Restoration Incomplete. Your computer cannot be restored . . . " when you run Windows Syste...
So, today I got a new mouse. Nothing special...just a logitech wireless thingy. What has me baffled, is the fact that it came with an installation CD, despite the fact that it works perfectly well "out of the box".
Why is it that modern PC's tend to be filled up with hundreds of small apps that all want to run at start-up time, making your computer just that little bit slower each time you install something new?
Now, thankfully, I can think for myself, and I quickly discover such apps, and...
Is it just me, or does Office 2007 not like images? When working with Word on my website, calendars, icons, whatever, I observe WINWORD.EXE every now and then in Task Manager, and upon saving, WINWORD tops up around 250 MB of system memory, when it normally takes up around 20-30 MB for a blank document. Upon building my calendars, I have about 40 some images loaded on the same page! The whole page is made up of images. But what I don't understand is that intermittently, I see WINWORD spike u...

As I'm sure many of you can relate, I spend hours and hours behind multiple PC's just about on a daily basis. One of the applications that is open pretty much all of the time is Microsoft Outlook 2007. Everything is organized through there. My e-mail, contacts, calendars, tasks, the list goes on and on. Along with my two Vista PC's, I also have a Mac that I do a lot of work on. The other "tool" I have been using regularly is Google Calendar. One reas...

Lately I’ve noticed that a few of my friends have been able to understand or even be aware of the Windows command line. I have a hard
time myself pulling myself away from Explorer, but sometimes the
command line is just quicker. However, it's a bit drab by default.
Today I'm going to show you just how you can pimp yours out a bit.
I have heard about Launchy a few times but never though that it would serve a purpose in my everyday computing. That's becuase I wasn't shure what it was? I was browsing for wallpapers yesterday and saw Launchy 2.0 released as a recent post at Customize.org I thought I would check it out. Boy am I glad I did! This program is not only FREE, but it also uses a very small amount of system recources.

My GMail password was stolen and my account taken over by Russian Hackers who tried to extort money out of me. This of course led me to ask HOW, on my system with my careful attitude to everything, they got hold of my password.
What I've found is that there are more security holes in software than even my paranoid mind suspected. I figured that a fully patched Vista, running Nod32 which is arguably the best antivirus around, Windows Defender, SpyBot S&D, a hardware firewall, firefox inste...
I do a variety of things for work everyday. Whether it's writing articles, creating graphics, screencasting, etc. there are always a few piece of software that always comes in handy. Some are free, and some are paid software, but I can tell you now these are definitely worth the cost.
Here is my top 5 favorite desktop applications to use during a "normal" working day. They are in no special order, just the top 5.

One of my biggest gripes about installing software on my PC is that many of them add programs that are set to run on the startup of my computer. Now there are many applications that need or should be set to startup, that isn't my issue, my dislike is applications that have no need to be put there in the first place. Every week I install all types of software for various reasons, and at the end of every week I make it a chore to clear out any unnecessary startup applications.
