Microsoft has announced several big changes to both the Xbox One and the Xbox Live service today.  First is the coming availability of a Kinect-less Xbox One which will be sold for $399, which is a $100 less than the current version which includes a Kinect Sensor. Next, the restrictions that many apps have that require you to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription is also ending.  Previously, to use an entertainment app like Netflix you would need to have a paid Xbox Live Gold subscrip...
vs.   Actual impressions (putting aside the specs) PS4 has a much better controller XBOX One has slightly less sucky launch titles XBOX One UI is more powerful XBOX One has integrated Skype (this is actually quite useful) PS4 has much better indie games market I can’t visually tell the difference in graphics between them (I know the specs, I’m just saying in real world, I can’t tell the difference so far) Got any questions? I’ll answe...

I wanted to start a thread just for the Xbox One discussions for people who have pre-ordered or thinking about picking one up.  I have my pre-order in and ready for the release. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/meet-xbox-one
Two takeaways from the PS4: 1. GDDR-5 memory. This means a lot of bandwidth to communicate between assets and the CPU. A pretty big deal as it ensures that their CPU will be more fully utilized. 2. 64-bit. This is huge. Means you’ll be able to support megatextures and have vastly richer worlds to play in. More specifically, it’ll mean that it’ll support types of games that you couldn’t realistically do on a mobile device which keeps the iOS/Android games away. It also means that the g...

Sometimes I think that companies come up with the latest and “greatest” in technology not because they think it will be useful, beneficial and appealing to the consumer but because their whole advertising dept is based around believing the consumer is so stupid they will buy it regardless how bad the product might seems at first. Nintendo Wii U? Are they serious? A game controller bigger than the 3DS or even an xBox or PS3 controller? With motion control? I can’t deny th...

In this article I'm gonna review my favorite classic horror game, Resident Evil 3: Last Escape. Keep reading. You will play as Jill Valentine, an ex-STARS member who is trying to escape from Raccoon City. The city itself has infected by T-Virus, turning the residents into flesh eating zombies. And the worse, you must face a powerful bio weapon who is programmed by Umbrella Corporation to kill the members of STARS, Nemesis. Fighting this monster can waste your ammo. He will try to catc...

As I try to get back into console video gaming for relaxation, I've been playing a "dynasty" season of NCAA Football 11 (from Electronic Arts (EA)).  As with previous years, I seem to be hitting a major frustration that I really wish the geniuses at Electronic Arts (or whomever programs the game for them) would figure out is a real and serious problem that totally detracts from a good portion of the game: the school rankings/ratings that are preloaded in the game. Fans of some teams (...

Many fans worry about the future of 2D fighting games. 2D fighting games have evolved in popularity since the appearance of amazing games such as GTA and Metal Gear Solid. (But Capcom knows what fighting gamers want by publishing Street Fighter 4) Street Fighter is back, with new graphics, new combos, new characters, and much more that will get the fans exited. Story The story takes place after SF 2. Each character has his/her own rival. Example, Guile once again will fight against ...

I'm gonna review one of my favorite classic RPG game, Final Fantasy 8. Keep reading... Story The story of FF 8 is not too complicated like others RPG games such as Xenogears and Chrono Cross. You play as Squall Leonheart, a group leader of future mercenaries who has mission to stop an ancient sorceress and save the world from destruction. Unfortunately, the story doesn't develop well. It's all about love The love story between Squall and Rhinoa is very famous, it could be the main s...

In this article I'm gonna review my favorite classic RPG game, Chrono Cross. Keep reading... Chrono Cross is the sequel of Chrono Trigger, Squaresoft's legendary 16-bit classic game. I played this game when I was still 14 years old. For me, this is the best RPG game ever made of all time. And I am sure if most gamers who have experience playing Chrono Cross are agree with my opinion. Story The story of this game is pretty unique, just like squaresofts other RPG, Xenogears. Serge, a cute l...
In the '90's I used to be a regular at E3 where I would report as Press for various computer magazines on the latest in "VideoPlace" technology, of which MicroSoft's Kinect now appears to be positioned to take the lead. "VideoPlace," generically, is any technology that allows the user to directly control a computer system via his video image. See Patent Title: Real Time Perception Of And Response To The Actions Of An Unencumbered Participant/user, Application Number: 06/850,770, Patent Fil...

The day after I finished Dragon Quest 5, I also reached the final boss in Final Fantasy 13. Of course, as is the case most of the time in Final Fantasy games recently, I wasn't able to beat it on the first pass. This is actually pretty unusual for me. Dragon Quest 5 was one where the final boss went right down. Most Grandia games, most Dragon quest games, even the older final fantasy games I was able to finish the game on the first try, but starting with FF9, I've had trouble either with the fin...
