Here I sit, peas on crotch. The deed is done: the vasectomy has been performed. Luckily for me, the pain is not too bad. It was recommended that I have ice on 30 minutes, off 30 minutes... but I haven't been willing to take the ice off for longer than it took for someone to run upstairs for the other bag. Let me tell you about the surgery (this is the point where the faint of heart are supposed to stop reading and click off this site): Started with a nice shearing o' the scrotes, sin...
The 'V' Word For Men From vasectomy.com : Having an operation involving the testicles is every man's fear. To a greater or lesser degree, just about every man would rather not have anything to do with a procedure on or near his genital region. Simply recognizing that this fear exists is a first step. Many men recognize that having a vasectomy could be the best solution for their personal or family situation, and that their short-term fear is offset by a long-term benefit for them...
Bummer, I just went back to the Urologist this morning. Let's just say I've experience a trauma in the area a urologist specializes in,and over the last year we've treated the area with massive doses of Vitamin E, tamaflin compounded in a cream, all to no avail. All the while a calcifying mass has grown along the, uh, shaft. It is rather painful, and to add misery,in the last 4 months an extreme curvature has developed. Needless to say, sex has been less than enjoyable ( at least for me )....
I have been following lifehappens blog on child abortion without or with parents permission, and since my question went unanswered there I will pose it here with statements and questions. Why stop at parental permission for abortion? Just let the kids decide what is right or wrong for themselves? WRONG! How about other surgeries? Nose jobs. Breast implants. Lipo suction. Stomach stapling. Sure let them all have anykind of surgeries they want, after all they know whats b...
I’m so drained, and I’m not referring to lack of sleep or anything like that today (I also went to bed a lot earlier last night!) but, no, make that however, I’m emotionally and mentally tired. I just came from the dentist with my 3 year old. This was her second follow up visit since her surgery. She’s been doing well since it happened except one of her crowns fell out but it was ok, her dentist replace it at the first visit. He said she was healing nicely but we’ve got to make sure ...
They rushed me to the hospital in Bullhead. The slight stomachache I'd gone to sleep with the previous night turned intoexcruciating pain by the following morning. Bullhead's finest spent all day poking, prodding , and testing mewithout any clue what was wrong. 9 hours later, with the sunset fastapproaching, my E.R. doc peeked in, said a technician had recheckedmy cat scan and decided it might be my appendix. (kinda, sorta, maybe.) "We only have one surgeon here," he said, "and he's off for...
So tomorrow is my daughter's surgery. It's dental surgery for those who haven't kept up with my blogs. Finally she will get some relief from feeling uncomfortable and taking antibiotics. They're not sure how long it will be but possibly an hour. Hopefully no longer. I really don't like the fact that she will be put to sleep but I guess it's for the best. Less screaming and all that. And man is she a fighter! That girl is so strong sometimes I wonder where she gets her strength from...
Mornin Y'all, Morgle B. Snurd(the "B" stands for Bartholomew)here. It has been awhile, and I am sorry about that. Ohh well back to my rant...still waiting for the VA to decide what in Hades they will do for me. I was scheduled for a procedure "Locally"When that turned into a FusterCluck, because the lovely employee at Providence Hospital Xray check in desk did not bother to call Nuclear Medicine Department to see If I was scheduled there. So,we left, and drove back home. A couple or three...
I am trying to do things on a Saturday, in hopes of being productive today. So far it hasn’t worked. Most of the day I’ve been watching the Discovery Health channel (which I am addicted too). An amazing story of this Pakistani girl who by all rights should be dead from a terrible accident involving an oil lamp and her skin captivated my slight hungover Saturday morning attention. Her head and arms were literally wielded to her body by scar tissue. How she survived in that condition fo...
Surgery and medicine. Two very different worlds living in the same house. And this discovery was quite a surprise for me going into medical school. Anyone who has spent an appreciable amount of time around surgeons has surely heard them cracking jokes about the internists. For those who aren't familiar, internists (not to be confused with interns) are those who practice internal medicine. Internal medicine is an amazing field, very deep, dealing with extremely complicated patients, mos...
The highly respected medicak journal The Lancet that has been at the fore front of medical research for more that 150 years has in a recent issue highlighted the consequences of the American areal bimbing on Iraq using a sophisticated statistical technique called cluster analysis. The margin of error is less that 3% in most cases. The team looked carefully at the mortality figure reported in select households in the week immediately preceeding the Ameican bombing campaign in March 200...
I finally bit the bullet and had custom LASIK done to both my eyes. The procedure was performed by Dr. D.C. Fiander of the Farmington Laser Eye Center. It was not an easy decision to have this procedure done. I had spent a great deal of time researching the pros and cons on LASIK, PRK, Custom LASIK along with other methods to improve vision. Since I work in front of the computer all day, my eyes are very important to me so weighing the potential side effects from such a procedure wa...
Well I just got back from the hospital, having lived there for 12 days. I went in with uncontrollable pain in my abdomen and back. Every day they did new tests I was poked and proded so much I looked like a bruised pincushen. They had used almost everyvain they could for not only blood draws but IV lines. They were considuring putting in a pic-line to be able to give me medicene and take blood (it is also called a central line, it is a IV that stayes in your vein for 18 months or liner.). ...
Ok... long time since I posted. It got worse before it got better. I had an ultra sound and they found a pelvic mass. I also had a colonoscopy and an upper GI and an ambulatory PH test. Turns out I had an ovarian cyst that ruptered... And then the pain never went away after the thing ruptered in April. So I had a laprosropy in April, and there was no internal damage. But I did have nerve entrapment on my abdominal wall right by where the cyst was. So to treat that I had to have a seri...
