Nike + iPod , My first 500+ miles. After purchasing my Nike+iPod kit, shoes, and iPod, back in July, I was more then a bit concerned that I would not have the willpower to continue running and that my 500 dollar investment would end up on the the pile of un-accomplished goals I have in my closet. Well it has been almost exactly 5 months, 45 pounds, and 568 miles later, I can safely say I have gotten my moneys worth. In those 500+ miles I have had many an adventure and learned...
Well like everybody me too anxiously waiting for the strat of the Ashes series '06. It is highly surprising to see England team slipp down the performance after winning the Ashes last year. Even though they are the defending champions nobody gives them a chance of even winning a single match, well thats the way English team has performed all these times. But the going by the way Eventhough English team are underdogs if they bat and bowl well in the first test 1st innings who knows Aussies ...
Well it's finally over. We had our last meet, the big one on Saturday. We went to the every exciting State Meet in the northern part of our state and ran our best. Our last week was one of anticipation and unitedness. All the girls stuck it out together regardless if they were invited to the big dance or not. We can only put our top seven runners in and we had thirteen girls. The other six were a great support system for the Varsity team. We had some very good runs this past wee...
This is where the rubber meets the road. Today was the day that counted. Today was the day all the teams in the state met for their regional meets. Today was the day opportunites were turned into triumph. Today was the day we earned a State berth. YES, WE MADE IT!! Our team will be going to States again this year. In the last seven years we've made the trip six times. Two years ago, we were more than a bit disappointed not to be in the position we found ourselves in today.

Tiger Woods has been called "the Best Athlete" because of his domination of his chosen sport. He on the other hand says that Michael Schumacher is the best Athlete. But the thing is Schumacher is a Formula One driver, who is dominating, but some don't think that is a real athlete. I am in that crowd. Golf is not a demanding, physically, sport, but it sure is mentally. I guess in that respect, so is race car driving. But I am curious, for the sports aficionados out t...
yes, the longest run of a division champ ever, 14 straight seasons (although the Mets did make it to the series in 2k), is a bit premature. If they win all their remaining games, and the Mets (the best team in Baseball right now) lose all of theirs, the Braves will win by a game. But that is highly unlikely. And I love it! Our home team is the Triple A farm team for them, and I hate them too! The only good year the Braves had was 69 (they lost to the Mets in 3 straight...
Bob Uecker, the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball, has gotten a restraining order from a lady who he claims (and the court apparently agrees with) has been stalking him! I had a hard time deciding if this should go under humor, or sports! Ah, but Sports needs a bump! A woman stalking him? Has he been dipping into the viagra stash? LOL! I like Bob. He is funny and self effacing. And you cant help but like his antics as he "exalts himself" only to be humbled!...

When infamous receiver Terrell Owens made the jump from Philly to Dalls, sportswriters counted on him giving Dallas one stellar year, then becoming poison. He did it in San Francisco, he did it in Philly, he'd be almost certain to do it in the "Big D". One thing they hadn't counted on though: Terrell Owens has climbed to such undeserved stellar heights that he no longer needs to "prove himself" for a year before infecting the team with his wretched attitude. He showed up to camp, and has put ...
Vince McMahon, who debuts on the Forbes 400 with a net worth of $1.1 billion, has more in common with his superwealthy brethren than you might think. On the surface, the 55-year-old chief executive of the World Wrestling Federation (nasdaq: WWFE) couldn't be more different from the button-down Wall Street financiers and thirty-something billionaire technogeeks who dominate the list. After all, McMahon delivers entertainment that's often violent and sexist. His characters look and sound li...
Well, almost! And the Mets have the largest lead of any division leader! But not the best record (only the second best). That goes to Detroit (I am reminded of 84 83?). But they have been slowing down and may be back to good from Ouch soon enough. But the one thing I have noticed is why the Mets are doing so well. Hitting? Nah! Just average. HomeRuns? (I love the days of Kingkong Kingman, but they never amounted to any champioiships). Nah...
So, the softball season is over. Last I blogged about it we were 2-3. Well, it turns out that this year, my team actually had some talent and skill on it. We lost the next game and went to 2-4, and then went on to win all the rest of the games! So we ended the season 11-4, in 4th place (potentially 3rd, not all the games have played out yet). So, in a 12 team playoff, we get a bye for the first round. We have never made it to the second round of the tournament without having a loss, s...
If you haven't already been reading Tom Perrotta in The New York Sun, I would strongly recommend that you do so. Wonderfully detailed, great perspective and knowledge of the game. Reading him is even better than watching a game on TV.
