So, I have a Sunburn, tons of bug bites blisters on both hands ropeburn on one palm raw skin from the guards that I put on to protect my blisters a matching set of bruises on my hips (from the pull and shoot) A raw wound on the back of my right knee (with matching bruise from not pushing through on my back end splits) A nice scrape from knee to ankle (hit the bar on the catch for my front end splits-won't do THAT again) bruises on the tops of both feet (from the bird's nest AKA backb...

See: Schilling apologizes for Bonds comments Apparently Curt Schilling is taking back the words (make that the TRUTHS) he spoke about Barry Bonds. My thoughts on Schilling's back pedalling: WUSS. That's about the only printable words I could use here. The real words are much harsher and well deserved. Schilling said what he should have originally, and spoke the truth. After the fact he's now back pedalling and trying to say it was a mistake. My left nut.

I watch this video with heart racing trepidation. The amount of water. The height of the water. The power of the water. Man oh man, awesome surfing. Brave man. This must be exhilarating and frightening at the same time. what is missing though is some Beach Boy music!
So, I have started working out this week. Three days so far (Monday, Wed, and Friday). I have a question, though. When exactly does "muscle failure" happen? I have read that I am to do an exercise up to 13 reps OR until muscle failure takes place. I noticed today, for example, that doing the bench press, by about 8 or 9 reps, I really started to "shake". Is that muscle failure? Or would muscle failure actaully take place when I simply cannot lift anymore? It would seem that failure woul...

As a child, I was raised an Orioles fan.  My grandparents, my parents, etc., all cheered for the Orioles.  They all had relatives that lived in the Baltimore suburbs, or even in Baltimore proper, so to them, the Orioles were *the* home team to cheer for. There was also the issue of the fact that D.C., after the riots that followed the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., was not seen as a friendly place to take children, and families, and eventually there was the loss of the team in D....
This morning, I did 54 pushups, 65 situps and ran the 2-miles in 15:53. That gives me a score of 230 out of 300. Sub-16 minutes on the run is actually really good for me. My pushups are about where I've been and my situps went down a few repetitions, but overall my score went up slightly (I think 7 points). I'm strongly considering taking another record PT test at the end of May. I really only prepared for this one about three weeks... another 4 weeks should see another 10 point impr...

I've been told (at times) that I'm a fairly good writer, that I communicate well, and thanks to being somewhat proficient as a typist, am able to use written communication to convey my thoughts fairly well.  I don't say that here to pat myself on the back though, instead I'm gonna be humble and say that I really wish I was more gifted in the area of written communication. Gideon put up an article on the subject that I wish I had the words to write on: Robinson's Ghost Reminds us Baseba...
My son David called to tell us the good news. His roommate and buddy Josh McDougal broke the four minute mile yesterday in VA. He was very excited to not only see this in person but see it happen to his good friend. I guess Josh did a 3:57 breaking his PR of 4:01. This is the fastest time in college this year for sure. This kid is unbelievable. He's broken records all over the place. I think he's like a 15 time All American. He's undefeated in the regular seasons losing usually ...

I'm still not a Georgetown fan, and I did expect they'd probably lose tonite, but on the bright side the loss will keep things fairly mellow in D.C., especially in the Georgetown area of town.  If the team had won and made it to the NCAA Mens Basketball Championship game then fans and others in the area might have found an excuse for causing trouble in town as part of their celebration. Georgetown fans may be disappointed in the loss, but they had a good season, made it farther than many...

So the Redskins have traded away Adam Archuleta.  Shipping him off to da Bears where he's to be reuinited with his former coach, Lovie Smith. Good riddance!  Don't let the door hit you...  And hey, how about sending back about 90% of the bonus money you took for doing NOTHING to help the Redskins last season. What a completely worthless free agent signing.  Utterly and completely useless. (I guess there may have been some good to come of it, perhaps the Redskins will...
In today's paper, there is an AP photo of Evander Holyfield training. Evander looks a lot like the present day Iron Sheik.  (This picture is from some guy's AOL site that I found on google.)

Have to tip my hat to the hoopsters from VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University).  They sent the clearly over-rated Duke Bluedevils packing yesterday (3-15-2007) in the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament. Duke took, that's right I said took, a spot that clearly didn't belong to them and failed to make the best use of the gift they received.  They really didn't deserve to be in the NCAA tournament this season and were it not for their reputation and long track record, they'd have been in...

LA Marathon training program: (Post Mortem) Friday March 8th, 2007      It has been said, by wiser men then myself, that running is a mental sport, to this I ad my humble amen. While I admit I am quite upset that I did not do as well as I wanted, over all this marathon was good experience. I have taken the last four days to recover, and to put my thoughts together, and I thought I would wrap up this training marathon, with what the lessons I learned. ...
