That Gears of War "Mad World" commercial (linked below) is just awesome.  As some of the comments at the link mention, the music helps make the commercial the thing of beauty that it is, but it's definitely awesome.

Just suffice it to say that Toys R Us is, { Start Valley Girl mode } like, totally about stoopid. { End Valley Girl mode } A few weeks ago I did the buy 2 get the third game (equal or lesser price) free deal while they were running it as a big sale. I didn't even think to really look at the receipt for the games, just looked at the total I was signing for (the important part), and signed for same after confirming that I had up to 45 days to bring back any of the games I didn't want a...

In the THQ game, Scooby-Doo Night of 100 Frights , there seems to be an easter egg that I hadn't encountered before... because there's basically a 1 in 365 chance of seeing it. On November 5th, Guy Fawkes Day, fireworks can be seen and heard in the night sky as Scooby-Doo searches for Scooby Snacks and tries to solve mysteries. It's constant , so it's minorly distracting... it triples the normal amount of noise put out by the game while my kids are playing it. Still, it's nice to fin...

You'd have to think the video linked below would be a big clue as to what is really wrong with Xbox 360's that get the "Ring of Death" (3 red lights). Fry an Egg on Xbox 360 YouTube video Fry an Egg on Xbox 360 (Strange choice of music as the sound track to the video.  I'd rather hear the narrator tell us what he's doing).

Here's a few gripes and comments (sort of like George Carlin's Complaints and Grievances) on some of the Xbox Live Arcade games -- specifically the cards and board games. As alternatives to Uno, I snagged both the Hardwood Hearts and Hardwood Spade games. I love Hearts as it's quite fun to play, and I'm learning Spades and having an ok time playing that too. What I'm not happy with on those games though is that the graphics in the games, especially cards that are on the...

I mentioned quite briefly in my comments on the Xbox Live Vision camera (in the comments area) that the original Microsoft supplied Xbox 360 headsets leave a lot to be desired. While they work fairly well originally, the construction of the cable assembly, especially where the cable meets the connector that plugs into the actual Xbox 360 controller is flawed. The cable on the original Xbox Live headsets (for the first generation Xbox systems) was much more sturdy and more durable. It was...

Vision meets the public Microsoft finally officially released their Xbox Live Vision accessory (see image below) for the Xbox 360 and Windows XP systems over the last few days. It had been out in limited quantities previously with some Toys R Us locations apparently ignoring the embargo and selling the units before they were supposed to. Vision is an innocent looking little accessory, and with the right gamers it is a nice addition to the gaming experience. Unfortunately th...

From IWon.com Sep 8, 4:32 AM (ET) By HIROKO TABUCHI TOKYO (AP) - Microsoft Co. is set to release a cheaper, bare-bones version of the Xbox 360 video game console in Japan to boost flagging sales ahead of the arrival of new machines from rivals later in the year. The Japanese unit of U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) will launch a Xbox 360 console on Nov. 2 that comes without the 20-gigabyte hard drive and other accessories included with the standard version, accordi...

Heck, why bother reading the full thing here, since I've basically summed it up in the Sub Title above, but what the heck, I'll put a few words here too, to go along with some eye candy (linked from the TeamXbox.com site) in the form of an image from the game and a shot of the box. First, here's a little eye candy, linked from TeamXbox.com site: Not too shabby on the graphical front, at least for the players, and field. A little less distinctive in the stands (which still show b...

Quick note for those that hadn't heard the news... If you own an Xbox 360 you can download Texas Hold'em poker for free on the box, even if you only have the Xbox Live Silver level membership. The game is a free download for the first 48 hours (of which approximately 16 hours have passed as I write this) after it's initial release, after that the price will be approximately $10 (depending on where/how and how much you get your Microsoft points at and for). The game is a decent ren...

Couple of notes here at the top: 1. I don't work for Microsoft, Electronic Arts, or any other gaming companies mentioned here-in. My only affiliation with them is as a paying (and sometimes b-tchin') customer. 2. I don't get referral discounts or any other payment for any comments I may make here. 3. This article is being posted via JoeUser.com in the Gaming -} console games area yet may be cross posted to other affiliated sites (sites affiliated with JoeUser.com, Stardock.com, etc.) If y...
Not one of the greatest of all time, but I'll also mention Xbox Live Arcade games from time to time. They are generally very good with excellent price points. The latest to come out is Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting. And if I ever needed a reminder of how much I suck at games, this is the game to do it. The graphics look pretty spot on although, like most demo versions, it takes up only a small portion of your screen. You need to pony up the 800 points for this bad boy, and that's about 40...
