We have several bird houses in our yard. Every spring baby birds are pushed out of the nest by Mama and Papa Bird.  Papa almost always takes a limb on a near-by tree, Mama on a patio chair.  They chirp to each other, and encouragement to their off-spring, as they watch over the baby bird.  No matter what changes in the yard, this event takes place every year.  For a couple years, an old stray cat hung around.  Mama and Papa pushed the baby out, and more times...

My daughter, Lauren Kuperman, turns 17 this month. She is a senior at Community High in Ann Arbor, applying to colleges and is ready to start taking on both the rights and responsibilities of adulthood. My wife and I have started taking our 3 year old to a new activity called “Tiny monkeys” that lets kids learn to tumble and jump and do all kinds of neat, fun things.  I have to say, being a dad is definitely the funnest thing I’ve ever done.  Watching our tiny monkey running about the house (yesterday, she was saying she was a cat, the day before she said she was a sheep saying “Baaah” all the time). 

Today is my son Jon's twenty-second birthday and I want to take the opportunity to say how proud I am of him and what he has meant to my life.
