I was sitting at home last night trying to get everyone settled enough so that i could have some relaxation time. When my four year old neice came up to me and asked me why she was fat. The question kind of took me by suprised as I looked her up and down I kept thinking. 'Your four. Who put it in your head that you are fat?' I just kept looking at her and I had no clue how to answer her question. My four year old niece should not be asking questions about her size. That should be t...

I can feel myself getting stronger everyday. I know I can do this but I hate being in it alone. I wake up in the morning to start my day. I look in the mirror as i rinse my face befre i cover up with the everyday make up. Im not ugly, but I'm not pretty. All I can say is that I am plain. I have no idea what i can do to change this plainness. I start with the foundation to make my skin look flawless. Then I put on the powder to help bring the color to my face so that i dont look...

We have several bird houses in our yard. Every spring baby birds are pushed out of the nest by Mama and Papa Bird.  Papa almost always takes a limb on a near-by tree, Mama on a patio chair.  They chirp to each other, and encouragement to their off-spring, as they watch over the baby bird.  No matter what changes in the yard, this event takes place every year.  For a couple years, an old stray cat hung around.  Mama and Papa pushed the baby out, and more times...

My daughter, Lauren Kuperman, turns 17 this month. She is a senior at Community High in Ann Arbor, applying to colleges and is ready to start taking on both the rights and responsibilities of adulthood. With that in mind, Lauren and I went to the Red Cross this morning to donate blood. Her first time, my 49th since coming to Michigan. Going today was her idea. As I have mentioned in the past, Lauren attended Sunday School at the Ann Arbor Jewish Cultural School (JCS.) As part of her education...

Our son Jimmy and his family had just moved in with us and we were all adjusting.   Not a bad thing, just an adjustment.  One hot July evening, Max, our ten-year-old grandson, came upstairs to talk.  We sat at the end of the bed.  I thanked Max for his help in getting the family moved in and his assistance to me (I have Parkinson's and he is a great, selfless server) and his unhesitating cooperation in the everyday functioning of the household.  I told hi...

Today a group of ladies were at my home and we were talking about raising kids.  One of the moms said she thought she was the perfect mom until her grown son reminded her one day of all the bad things she did that she wasn't even aware of doing.   His perception and hers were vastly different.  Not to mention his perception and her daughters, that she raised in the same household, were totally different.  When your kids are grown they like to remind you of&nb...

Parenting is a hard job and there are no easy ways to get around it if it's to be done right.  There's no one way to parent because there are as many variables involved as there are personalities.  While it's a tough job it can be very rewarding as well.  Parenting is like taking care of your garden.  You get out of it what you put into it.  If you don't tend your garden properly what happens?  A garden, like our children need to be nourished, watered and car...
My wife and I have started taking our 3 year old to a new activity called “Tiny monkeys” that lets kids learn to tumble and jump and do all kinds of neat, fun things.  I have to say, being a dad is definitely the funnest thing I’ve ever done.  Watching our tiny monkey running about the house (yesterday, she was saying she was a cat, the day before she said she was a sheep saying “Baaah” all the time).

Today is my son Jon's twenty-second birthday and I want to take the opportunity to say how proud I am of him and what he has meant to my life. This past year has been the best year of my life as I have watched him mature into an adult, an adult who I not only love, but who I truly like and even admire. Twenty-two years and some horurs ago I was sitting in the living room of an apartment where we lived in the Bronx. I was watching the Mets game on TV. The Mets were down by one run, had the tyi...

I tried to post a slideshow but I can't figure out how to do it.  I did post it on my blogspot blog:  http://2boys-2girls.blogspot.com/2009/03/months-1-in-pictures.html Is it really that difficult to post a slideshow here?
Today I woke up and was reminded that today is St. Patrick's Day.  Being someone who doesn't look good wearing green I got dressed and put on a green necklace given to me by my roommate.  I woke up Nicholas and thought I might try and explain today what today was.    I woke him up and said, "hey buddy, guess what, today we get to wear your favorite color." "Green?" he asked. "Wahoo" Then I asked him if he knew why we wore green today and he said no so I went on to...

The organization considered that the steps they followed had proved successful. They would take a similar approach if they initiated any further re-engineering projects at a later date although some of steps would not need to be repeated unless major upheaval was again required. Management recognises that processes are volatile, and accordingly the group plans to settle into a continuous improvement approach which revises processes periodically. This is supported by Davenport who claims that org...
I passed two people on my walk from the parking lot this morning who were discussing their kids. This is the extent of the conversation I heard:   "My kids are still little and at home." "Yeah, my kids are grown up and out of the house.  In fact, I sent both my daughters to four years of college and all they're doing is raising kids at home."   I can't let that kind of blinkard stupidity go unchallenged.  I turned around and told the man (after apologizing for ...
I recently bought a lap top because I could never get on the computer because my teenage son, Adam, who is 14 is always on with his interests in Anima & games, I'm glad he has a hobby so I do allow him time on it, but with restrictions as to time and sites. The old clunker I have at home for the past three years is a loaner from work because from time to time I have had to bring work home.  Our home computer that we own, had problem accessing the internet because it is so old, lacks ...
