A while ago I wrote an article I titled: iPod and Nike, a match made in marketing . It isn't a long article, but in short, I slammed the idea as nothing more than a lame gimmick to get people to buy more stuff. I even went so far as to say "I wouldn't be interested at all." Two years later I have to say the following: Not only is it a gimmick, it is the coolest freaking gimmick in the world. I said I didn't see new runners being motivated by this scheme. WRONG. I also ...
Now, I have a Creative MuVo v100 1 gigabyte MP3 player. It consists of two parts, the USB storage/player component, and the battery dock. It uses one AAA battery, which lasts it in excess of ten hours (I wanna say twenty four, but I'm not 100% sure. It's long enough.) It also has a wonderful voice recorder, which uses .wav files, if I am correct. Don't use the voice recorder for too much, though. It will only really record voice, and will pick up background noise, though not too much. It come...
Today I was handed a nice 8gb Zune 2. It was a gift from Microsoft to Stardock CEO Brad Wardell and had www.wincustomize.com engraved on the back. It came in a very nice bag and I took it home with me with the intention of writing a review on it this week. So far I've been using it for about 15-20min and I just wanted to toss out my initial impressions: So tiny and light. Box is very reminiscent of iPod packaging These earpohones hurt! Woo! Radio on an mp3 p...
. . . the added sense of "panache" that seems to come with them!
Zune Set to Launch (original article by Paul Thurrott, thurrott@windowsitpro.com)You might have seen the trying-hard-to-be-hip advertising by now: Microsoft is beginning the marketing death march for its Zune portable digital music player, hoping to convince consumers that there's a viable alternative to Apple's dominant iPod. If the early reviews are to be believed, however, Microsoft first-generation Zune isn't all that exciting. It looks like it's going to be a tough holiday season for the iP...
Apple Ships iPods with Windows Virus (original article by Paul Thurrott)This week, Apple reported that a relatively small number of its iPod portable MP3 players shipped with a Windows virus. The virus--which affects the full-sized iPod with video--can infect Windows computers that the devices are connected to.Apple, naturally, took the opportunity to partially blame the problem on Microsoft. "We are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ours...
To quote from the article... Microsoft's Zune will not play protected Windows Media Audio and Video purchased or "rented" from Napster 2.0, Rhapsody, Yahoo! Unlimited, Movielink, Cinemanow, or any other online media service. That's right -- the media that Microsoft promised would Play For Sure doesn't even play on Microsoft's own device. Buried in footnote 4 of its press release, Microsoft clearly states that "Zune software can import audio files in unprotected WMA, MP3, AAC; photos in JP...
Check out the 'new' iPod Nano design. It's basically the same design as the iPod Mini (which I really like) but in the dimensions of iPod Nano that now comes also in 8 GB version which is also the reason for the price drop of the 2 GB and 4 GB versions Shuffle is now even smaller as the old version but I preffered the old version as you can wear it around your neck. The new Shuffle is designed as a 'clip'.
Have youever asked youself why you associate all Digital Music players to theterm iPod? Is it because Apple makes the best digital music player? No. Is it because all digital music players are iPods? No. Friendsit’s simply because they market their digital music player andbecause they do, they have a 70%+ share of the market. I mustadmit I own an iPod, well if you count my daughters Nano I guess Iown two. I don’t own them because of marketing though, I ownone them becau...
Afterpurchasing and using my 5G iPod for a few weeks it became apparent tome that I needed a set of external speakers for use at work and in myshop. I was hooked on having my entire music collection at myfingertips but felt tethered to the ear buds. Not knowing exactlywhat was out there I set my requirements. Simple I thought I neededa set of speakers that also came with a FM radio receiver so I couldlisten to sports talk radio and Baseball games. Theobvious choice would be the iB...
In their latest string of "big announcements", Apple has announced their partnership with Nike to deliver the iPod Sport Pack . Apparently, this will allow you to stick a sensor in your shoes (of course, you are also going to have to buy a special pair of Nike shoes that have the pocket for the sensor in the sole of the shoes) that will communicate with a receiver attached to your iPod Nano (Nano apparently required, so I guess us 5G owners are out of luck) and receive information on your worko...
Researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) took up the latter approach yesterday by unveiling an iPod nano which communicates with earphones via your body's ability to pump electrical signal. Oh sure, the prototype requires the user to keep a finger pressed to the iPod to close the circuit and there's always risk of a nasty infection after implanting the 10-microwatt/2Mbps chip in your forearm but hey, prototype or not think of the time you'll save not havin...
No, this is not a joke actually, and believe ot or not Levi's actually believes this is a good idea. So I guess we will have to watch prople walking around like zombies, in podwold, with their hands in their pockets, playing pocket pool, and losing all hints of normal social interaction, while commiting huge fashion crimes? Oh, the humanity.
Channeling Jerry Seinfeld: So what's the deal with these iPod things? Are they really that great? I went to the Apple store in Annapolis Mall the other day, and it was a cool store. The iPods were amazing, though. They hold like every song I have ever heard, and they weigh like the same as a lettuce leaf. I appeal to those who already own one! Please give me a consumer review. Sell me on one, please... I'd like to justify it to my wife so I don't have to buy one for myself for...
I guess they just released the new video ipod yesterday Oct. 12th. I don't plan on going out and buying one though. I believe my PSP does just fine when it comes to video. It has better resolution and bigger screen, so I can enjoy the weekly Digital Life TV video pod cast every week on the go or in waiting lines. Or I can just play a video game. I know hands down the ipod is the best MP3 player out there, But when it comes to video I think the PSP blows it away. SickSickVickVick
