I am so tired of hearing people rant and complain about the medical professionals that care for them. I work at an office to pay the bills but I am a nursing student working on my BSN but planning on getting my Master's degree and becoming a Nurse Practioner. For those of you that don't know what that is. Usually if you go into any kind of clinic (Family Planning, Free or Rapid Care) you are most likely seen by a Nurse Practioner. At least that is how it is here in Ohio. At my job I constantl...

So as I mentioned earlier, I’ve started getting into dietary supplements . Now, I do have two prescriptions now. One is a statin drug for cholesterol and the other is Celexa. Now technically, all those different pills could likely be combined into 1 or 2 pills ala a multi-vitamin is now (when you take your multi-vitamin you’re basically taking what used to be dozens of pills). I’ve done my best to research the various supplements and I have scheduled myself to get occasional bloo...

As I get older, I am becoming more aware of how the body seems to change from a position of “must make sure this organism lives so it can reproduce” to “meh”.  At 38, I am definitely seeing the transition from “must live” to “meh” which is not uncommon for people my age from what I’m learning. There's a new type of treatment for people with skin problems. It’s called PDT, photo dynamic therapy, aka Laser light treatment, will be used to help people with skin problems caused from Eczema, acne even cancer. The American Academy of Dermatology said PDT can help to improve scarring and skin texture caused by acne because it will shrink the oil glands and for those with skin cancer, there is a lightweight bandage that has its own light source and will be less expensive to use and...
Health. Is one thing we need to focus on, about ourselves. A major factor for our activities in everyday life. Physiologically speaking, health is needed to maintain in our body in order for us to survive. And as a nursing student, I must be aware of the things that can harm or do well in the health of other people. It is a duty needed to be fulfilled and a pledge needed to be kept. Just like those who are in the field of medicine. Their primary concern is to k...
Scientists have found a way to bring people back from the dead. Sort of.  The first successful test subjects were dogs which were drained of all their blood, replaced with saline solution that was just above freezing and then revived 3 hours later with no brain damage. This could be a boon for battlefield casualties as well as for those in accidents where a lot of blood has been lost.  There is also great potential for this to be used to put someone into hybernation for the long ter...
