Here's the idea: formulate a story using six words. Any six words. But choose them carefully.   My stories: "She died in his arms. Again." "We lost ourselves on an airplane." "I gave my life to die."   It's a fun little exercise I like to do when I'm writing poetry and my muse runs dry. Try it!

I am a fan of Tremulous, the open-source Q3 strategy FPS, to the point of writing fanfiction. Granted, it has no story.     New Douglas was a peaceful planet, until the aliens came. Humanity used to live in luxurious cities, but now everything with less than eight legs lives in military bases. The aliens hunt the humans relentlessly, with the tiny Dretch or the magnificent Tyrant, or anything in-between.     The light is burning my eyes... I...
(Here's a little something...enjoy)   Blaine limped up to the bar’s warped doorframe. He could definitely use a fuckin’ drink after the shit he’d just been through. Stepping gingerly over the mangled corpses that littered his path he reached the counter and grabbed the first bottle he saw and downed as much as he could. His eyes were pouring tears, of which he was oblivious. All he was aware of was the liquor rushing to his stomach and those images that kept playi...

Well, I get popular articles at least once a day, so I figured I might give my thoughts on writing fiction. Mind you that I'm a stinking awful writer. As in I never wrote anything other than one short story worth anything, and I look back on that one as sub-par. Maybe I'll re-write it someday.     First, I believe that in writing you should have a sort of gritty realism. For an example of this, I write below (sci-fi, Battletech/MechWarrior style):  &n...

Her head throbbed, her ribs hurt, her back and legs ached and the bruises on her arms pulsed in pain. However, despite all this, she felt good. In fact, she felt really good, as in Christmas morning when she was a kid good. The bastard wouldn’t be able to hit or kick her anymore. He was gone for good. She smiled at the thought, and then she chuckled a little until it grew into a full-throated laugh. She did a little victory dance around the kitchen, laughing aloud and kicking up her hee...

I sit languidly in my chair, watching the fly buzz about the room, hear the faint tick tock, tick tock of my watch as my lifeless hand hangs dumbly, swinging slowly for no apparent biological reason.

Hiromi, for all her vibrance, can't keep me there.  I drift . . .

(Note: This isn't exactly futuristic...though I suppose it can be seen as such in some way.  It's just more of an alternate reality piece, but there are some impending future consequences...so that's my cop out. )   I wake up in a cold sweat, shivering in the deepest fright. I feel a strong compulsion and venture out into the night.   Though I wish to turn back and run to the safety of my bed, My legs work by themselves and through the darkness I am led. &nbs...

For Sale. Three bedroom one outhouse, tilting, all natural (green) landscaped home in a happening area. Room for a garage in front, but not recommended since the last one was tore off by a drunk who thought it was a drive thru. Quiet place to live, oh ok traffic can get crazy sometimes with squealing tires as people decide at the last second, "oh no I meant to go THAT way."  And you can hear the electricity hum from all the poles, but it don't do ya no harm. In house enterta...

I don’t know how I got here at Mick Jaggar’s lawyer’s office. Well, I do but … Let me start at the beginning. Last month, I had been playing  poker a lot online but I wanted to play in live tournaments so I flew to L.A. to play a few tournaments at the Commerce casino. I entered one and had been playing all day making the final table. In fact, I had made it to the final three players, which meant at least a 6-figure payday, when I heard a familiar voice. It was...
"Mommy!" April shouted as she hurled herself into her mother's outstretched arms. "I'm so glad you're here to pick me up mommy"! April whispered in her mom's ear as she received a big bear hug from her mom. "Is everything alright baby?" Her mother asked pushing April's hair back from her face. "No..yes..." muttered April. Moana Jackson looked at her six year old intently.  "You know you can tell mommy if anything is wrong, don't you April?" April looked at her mom. "Yes mommy...
Light darts in from the gaps in the curtains…right on my fuckin’ eye. I roll over, stretch and take a glance at the clock: 9:34AM. Well, that’s not too bad. I thought to myself. I pull up to a sitting position, my head swimming and throbbing from all that shit last night. I recalled having some female companionship, looks like that bitch hightailed it out of there and probably with whatever cash I had in my wallet. Well, I wasn’t quite in the mood to talk to anyone...
"It's been a long day", she thought to herself as she trudged up the steps to the front porch, "A damn tired long day and all I want to do right now is just sit in a hot bath and nurse my poor aching body"!    Gracie dragged herself inside her home, tossing her coat and hat on the chair by the door.  She stood, looking forlornly around her.  A tear sneaked its way out of the corner of her eye and slowly rolled down the side of her face.  She quickly wiped at her fa...
Introduction- This Is the World Such an interesting existence, don’t you think? Who would’ve thought we’d come this far? A miraculous drug, a panacea that cures all of our troubles and let’s us live for over 5 times our original lifespan. Well, not all of us. The better ones live and those that are, shall we say, lower on the intellectual totem pole don’t receive the benefit. Of course, logically it only makes sense. Why waste resources and time on such inferi...
