As Jill put on her make up she wondered to herself. "What would Bob be like? Would he look like his picture that he posted in Cyber Space? Or would he look a lot different?" Even although Jill had never met Bob, she felt as if she knew him well. Jill loved reading all of Bob's romantic journals he posted in Cyber Space. Through emails and PM's they got to know each other well. When things had not gone well on the job or in their personal lifes, they were both there fo...
Am I the only Ultimate Spider-Man addict around here? I've been collecting them for the past couple of years. They start the Spider-Man mythos over at the start and really modernize it with Peter Parker a 15 year old kid. If you have any interest in Spider-Man or comic books, I really recommend these. They're well written and the artwork is terrific.
I just found out that Free The Writer.Com has published my Sci-Fi story on their site. I wasn't really sure if I should have listed Tiffany Stone as a Sci-Fi story. I had so much comedy in it, I was sure they would reject as Sci-Fi. I'm glad they published it despite my doubts about what title it should be listed under. There are some very fine writers that are listed at Free The Writer.Com, so of course I'm delighted that they decided to list my story. Tiffany Stone(The Story) wa...
Shaco and Doane spent much of the evening silent.Even through dinner neither spoke to another.Fragments of conversation were shared as Doane explained shaco would be sleepping on the couch.Doane headed off to his own humble room as shaco lay there stagnent for a long while. However, Shaco couldn't evade sleep forever as he layed back and nodded off.The night was very peaceful besides many of the eiree crackling torches and creaks of the new house. The next morning shaco's slumber was...
We see harmful portrayals of women in the vast majority of the media we are exposed to; movies, television, and magazines just to name a few. There is one place where this occurs that I never gave much thought to, even though I have them in my face in them almost every day. Comic books have some of the most outlandish portrayals of women that I’ve been subjected to, but I hardly give it a second thought. Leggy, busty women comprise the overwhelming majority of female heroes. In all the co...
Them's Fightin' Words Man oh man is this looking like a good year for movies. Great movies...FABULOUS movies. That's right, I am talking about comic book movies. Not just this year either, but in the next two years there are going to be a whole slew of comic book movies are in the works for us hardcore nerds (and also the fair weather comic book geeks). I'll go into the ones that are coming out this year and whose dates are definitely set. Hellboy is coming out within the next...
This Town Ain't Big Enough For the Both of Us I am going to talk to you today about something i mentioned briefly in my previous Comic Store Cowboy, Marvels new comic book line The Ultimate titles. This is been a massive project by Marvel, where they take some of our most beloved titles and start them over in a year one style. This new series is completely separate from the normal Marvel universe. Some of the titles in this new series are; Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spiderman, The Ultimates ...
Are You the Man Who Killed My Pah? It's nice to see marvel in an upswing again, it really is. They have been putting out some really good material lately. REALLY good. With the Ultimate titles, Marvel Knights, and the rising popularity of graphic novels, I've been in a comic book heaven. What I want to talk to you about today, however, is the 1602 series Marvel is currently doing. This incredible piece of comic literature is being written by none other than Neil Gaiman. This alone is...
Hi, i have decided to post all my articles at once, as opposed to spacing them out, and i will begin writing new ones as soon as i am able. Some constructive criticism would be nice, as i am not the best writer. I am a History major so i don't really need to be. Back in the Saddle I must apologize for my absence, my pretties. I was too poor to buy comic books and none of my old issues lit the fire underneath me that is necessary for me to write this piece. Recently, though, I have st...
A place to sleep the day away and have breakfast in bed. Strangers passing the hall with their stranger secrets as the look both ways in the hall before going in to meet a secret lover. Cart in the hall - maid in the room; she smells the sheets before she strips the bed and remembers her youth. Thinking back to 1971 when she smoked pot and had sex for fun or money or both. The mirror talks back to her as she flutters by and asks her what happened to her girlish figure. How did she get whe...
Before I start this novelette I would like to say thank you to a few people... First and Foremost... To Jessica , The light of my life, and the one with a soul made of music. Well it's been a while since I've written an entry so I've decided to do one. It looks like theres enough on politics out there already so I'll touch on something that hasn't been mentioned much around here- literature. I frankly love to read and have recently found myself staying up into the wee hours of the mourning to read "just one more page" (gotta love the excuses we make to ourselves). I've read a whole lot of books and am always looking for more so I might as well return the favor and...
Supernova-The Conclusion Finally the time came to pull Ganymede from its orbit around Jupiter and lock it in an artificial gravity well generated a safe distance from earth. The gravitational force of the moon would be nullified by the gravity well we had created, making it safe. Since most of the lead scientists were from America, it was decided the moon would be moved when it was night in the Western Hemisphere, making it a spectacle not to be missed. It was last night. I imag...
Supernova part VII I feel so cynical now. My cynicism has grown steadily over the years, corresponding to a loss of idealism. I was not a lone cynic through the course of the years, there were many of us. And when this “wonderful” idea was proposed we raised our collective voices in defiance to this plan. We were sure it was doomed to failure. Sadly, we were not possessed of clairvoyance sufficient to know how right we were. Perhaps we would not have relented so easily. Our p...
I just finished reading another book I ordered online from the library because it was reviewed in the Australian Woman's Weekly magazine - this one was in the April issue (which reminds me that the May one will be out soon) along with the book I'd read previously "Sundowners" by Lesley Lokko This one "Gang of Four" by Liz Byrski was about 4 women in their 50's who have been friends for 20 years "... supporting each other through personal and professional crisises - parents dying, children ...
