A SUIT OF LIVING HAMSTERS home by jsr 13/08/06 12:21 AM I went to M. this morning with my idea to spend the rent money on a suit of living hamsters, trained to kill; told her, "Look, next time someone tries to force me into a van, and kidnap me, they will be grabbing a rabid hamster hell bent on biting." I pointed at my stick drawings showing a man holding a gun on me as a hamster bites off the offending arm (this is...
Through an odd series of events, I was led to a listing of a local Dachshund Rescue. What was the listing for? Two puppies! Their Mom was rescued from a Puppy Mill, and she was pregnant when she was rescued. So, I was able to adopt two perfect little weiner dog puppies. The tan one is named Chester, and he is a boy. The other is a girl, and her name is Autumn. Yes, they were born at the same time even though they look nothing alike. ...
A friend of mine has an indoor dog -- a Shitzu named Izzy. Unfortunately for him, he can't seem to house break her. She has the unfortunate habit of pooping and peeing where ever and won't use her mats. He is gone for a large part of the day, so he has a hard time training her. Any tips?
Thirty nine million two hundred and forty six thousand years before our story takes place, massive shifts in plate teutonics wiped out the last vestiges of the Humanians off planet civilization. No one knew about a planet called earth, or the civilization that spawned their species and sent them on great ships out into cold, black space, after they destroyed their original host planet, leaving their once green and blue eden black and brown, as dead as the sterile vaccum of space that rep...
What the *#!& is wrong with the vets around here? If you followed my articles about my cat Fuzzy, you probably know what a difficult time I had getting a veterinarian to see him. I couldn't believe that they'd rather leave an animal to painfully die than get full payment upfront. You'd think vets of all people would care what happened to an animal. You'd be wrong. I just found out what happened to my neighbor's dog. My neighbor took her dog, Nicki, to the dog groomer. While shaving...
I ran into an article while reading the Early Bird news last week, and knew I'd have to point it out to HW. This Link will require you to register for the service (and I do mean "register for the service"), but you may be able to find it if the New York Daily News has an online archive. Also, you could go to this Link from the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Pretty much the same information is given... Basically, there is an organization that collects donations to take unit mascots home...

Today was a rough day. I work at a veterinary hospital as a technician's assistant, and we had some pretty nasty cases. But what stood out to me and said "write an entry!" was the nature of two of the patients there today, with such similar stories to ones I've seen in the past. The first was a little dog with hideous recurring ear infections and a nasty, nasty eye. This eye was swollen to twice its normal size, bulging out of the head, covered with red veins and mucous. This obviously ...
I'll give you the warning now that this article has to do with animials or humans private parts. It's not as nasty as it first may sound, I think it's quite funny. My hairdresser, of all people, told me about this new surgical procedure that vets are performing on dogs. I think it's also able to be used on cats and, after researching the topic on the internet, found it's able to be performed on men as well. So what are neuticles? They are fake testicles! I'm not making this up, as funny as it...
I've always been active in volunteer organizations, especially ones benefitting animals. Click to help animal shelters: Link
Now, I know I should be enjoying myself since work is light and spring is here. And I am enjoying myself, in an angst-ridden, nervous kind of way. I keep looking up places to live, textbooks to buy, and student organizations to join, and reading the insightful blog of a soon-to-be second year vet student. Notes on the latter: according to her, there are two loose groupings of vet students. One believes in study, study, study! The harder you study, the better you'll do, and the better j...
