Greetings to everyone who has been following the Saga of Kilmurry House. I had intended this blog to be a catch up piece, one that entertained with snippets of life here over the last two weeks. The two crazy weeks while we prepared for and lived through our local SCA event. Our last house guests left this morning, and it seemed for a few minutes that life would go on as normal. Last night, The Wolf had taken his favorite cat, Hagen to the vet in a rush. But he seemed to be improving...thi...

Cats are such adorable creatures. I absolutely love them. I really admire these cute animals as they have their own sense of hygiene. They always take a bath eventhough they look clean enough to me. Of course, being wild animals and as it is their natural instinct, we'd have to train them to use the litter box for those undesirable business they so often do. But once they are trained, it'd be fun to take care of them especially cute, furry kitties. In my opinion, the younger you breed a ca...

Bobbi passed away tonight, in the gentle and loving care of our local veterinarian. She was our eight year old Japanese bobtail, white with orange markings, a small cat. She had "found" me, when I was cleaning an apartment, in what they call an apartment complex. I went to the office to see if they knew whose cat it was. The woman said that someone had moved and just left her to her own devices, and she had been living off the generosity of anyone who would feed her. Well I asked if I c...

We have an absolutly crazy cat named Thomas Jefferson. He is about 10 or 11 months old and full of energy. He thinks the world is his toy, and although he has every cat toy ever made, he likes to play with household items. He has started stealing my tampons out of the bathroom cuboard. What a weirdo! I keep taking them away and tried locking him out of the bathroom, but he keeps sneaking in and grabing one out. Then he defends his "toy" and chases it around the house pushing it away from me w...
Well, I was going to write about how yesterday we got to find out just how unprepared we were for nine hours without electricity. Can you say "matches" anyone? But instead, I'm going to write about what happened a few hours ago at a pet store in Dublin. Totally by "chance" but experiences like this make me wonder sometimes just how much of life, really is "chance." This is what happened: My husband and our house-mate are starting a jewelry making business, for which they need supplies. W...

Ok, here's the deal....there is this orange cat and it happens to be female....and there are about 3 "intact" male cats running around here....so doing the math you'd find out that this stupid thing is bound to get knocked up all the time....so far, eight kittens....I "adopted" 4 of them for awhile....gave one away, abandoned 2 at the feed mill, and kept one.....Woohoo! Anyway, two from this recent litter were in one of my barns and I caught them (Let them go later though) and one of these littl...

Well, for those of you who don't know, Disaster Cat lives with her husband, house-mate and furry friends, in a 200 year old Irish Rectory/Farm House. When we moved in, we had a terrible rat problem and I thought that a natural solution might be better than the tons of rat poison the previous owners put down every year. Besides, looking at the results of their efforts, I was not impressed. Thus began the saga of the Kilmurry House Barn Cats, a continuing story that has gone on for the entire s...

finally got the strength to go to our animal shelter downtown to pick out a kitty cat with my partner Wayne, i told him he could choose the one he wanted, we got approved, actually had to lie we didnt have another cat, her papers arent current but are now, we got in there to pick one out and i couldnt help myself and found a cute shorthair black and white male named Ted, he looks like a skunk reversed, black stripe down his back, white legs, except for black spots on his front legs, very cute an...
We have two cats (2 dogs, 2 snakes, 10 fish, lord only knows how many Siberian Dwarf hampsters) which, until recently were outside cats. They are pretty mellow felines as felines go and didn't really stray far from the house. One day the little old lady from across the street approached me saying that one of my cats was sleeping on her porch at night and asked if I could put a stop to it. When I asked if the cat was causing a problem by sleeping on her porch she said that it was shedding on...

There is a product I saw advertised called , Litter Mate . It is a unique device that cats can krapp in , and when they step out of the device . The device automatically rakes the litter and pulls the krapp off to be collected in a compartment for dumping later . Here is the part I can't understand . You can get a " privacy cover " to go over the litter mate . So , your cat can krapp in private . Since when have animals become shy . Go to any local Pet Store an...
