"When we choose not to focus on what's missing in our lives but are grateful for the abundance that is present...we experience heaven on earth." Today was a fabulous day!  First of all today is my day off which is always nice.  I can't imagine how people that work seven days a week do it.  It is so nice to have that break to relax and recharge.  It is finally spring and in Texas that means bluebonnets everywhere.  The bluebonnets just make me happy.  Plus...

Pets, sometimes they can be a lot to take care and other times not so much. I have two dogs one that stays inside and the other stays outside. I took them both to the vet yesterday for their regular check up. Is it just me or do surgeons and the ladies that check you in at the vet wear the same uniforms? Anyway the outside dog fine passed his check up with flying colors but the inside dog not so much. Biggest problem is that he has fleas. How he has fleas I don't understand. How they both don't ...

I miss my JU! friends who have left the site.  I am trying to convince them to return, visit? something.  I am glad to have made some friends on this site.  Some I have stayed in touch with via email.  I have several that are friends on Facebook.  It's just not the same as the interaction we had on this site.  By the way, I really like Myspace better than Facebook.  Mainly because I love music.  Myspace is such a wonderful place to discover new bands, s...

This is a playlist I set up for a (quiet) party with my friends. It's basically a list of songs and melodies I like to listen to while doing other things. See what you can learn from it about me and whether it is what you expected me to like (it probably is). 1. White & Nerdy (Weird Al Yankovic) 2. Rabbi Jacob (theme music of the movie The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob) 3. The Gnu Song (a song about the letters in the word "Gnu", very nice) 4. Chebacca (Star Wars parody song from mov...
Spring is here!  Yippee!  I love Spring.  I love the cool fresh air.  I love to go out and walk around my gardens and see new life sprouting.  It's so awesome to see the new growth.  It's a time when weeds aren't yet a problem giving me time to concentrate on the old growth of the plants I've neglected all winter.  Spring is a time of rejuvenation.  It's a great time to plant flowers and vegetable seedlings.  It's a great time to visit the local...

Will the Tiger Woods feeding frenzy be coming to an end any time soon? Okay…he’s apologized; good for him. Why do we care? For myself, I don't care so much about his personal affairs (pun intended), but I do hold some opinions about the media's strong (over)reaction to the whole sordid affair (again, pun intended). I mean, isn’t his “sex addiction” and its accompanying issues, pretty much between Woods and his wife, anyway? I was channel surfing the other n...

It's been hard to be me this week.  I've been really sick all week and it has sucked!  I had a weird stomach virus at the beginning of the week, and now I have a bad cold! Can any of you feel my pain?  I guess it is cold season so probably everyone has a cold right now.  Nevertheless, it has been bad because I haven't been able to do any of the stuff that I want or need to do. The only thing that comforts me when I'm sick is to watch funny shows.  I've been watching a...

Ahhh  Buddy... Where to begin... It's been a crazy week for me to start.  Monday I was told I'm being shipped to Miami to help out with the Haiti relief.. on Wednesday, which then promptly changed to Tuesday...   So i fly out on Tuesday, miss my connection flight in DC, spend the night there, then fly to Miami on Wednesday.  When I get there no one at all has a clue who I am supposed to work for, or where I'm supposed to go.  My hotel reservations had gotten canceled ...

My wife bought a bunch of that snacky, "gifty" stuff you generally buy in the baskets and tins; cheese, cracker spreads, that sort of thing, but this stuff was just individually priced, and loose in a bin; from broken cases and such, I'd assume. She'd intended to assemble all this into baskets of her own making and design, which she does very well. One thing she bought was a goodly-sized Hillshire Farms "Summer Sausage", hence the title; well, I managed to finagl...

Christmas is one of those times when I am seriously annoyed. Shops are closed. I am not working for four days in a row. I don't know what to do all day. So every year I come up with a few things to do for Christmas day, the holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Year's. This year I bought two netbooks. The first is a 10" screen HP Mini (Intel Atom N270, 1.6 GHz, 1 GB, 160 GB hard disk) which came with Windows 7 Starter and which I have already installed Windows 7 Ultimate o...

Looking in the mirror sometimes I feel like I have no idea who it is that is looking back. While there seems to be a look behind the eyes that is familier I look at the simalirates from my parents that have somehow found a unification on what seems to be my face. How has this happened and when did it start? Am I going to be the inevetible slogen of "I am my mother, after all" ? I just want to know who is responsible for this disaster...is there a complant department that I can call? I 1-800 numb...

The time has finally arrived for Halloween!  I literally cannot wait.  I don't know why I get so excited about this time of year, but I do.  Not more than the holiday season, but it probably comes in as a close runner-up.  My husband and I have picked out our medieval costumes, after lots of mind-changing.  He is going to be a knight and I am going to be a princess. It is going to be awesome.  Our trip to Fear Fast this past weekend really got us pumped up for it.&n...

I have had such a great weekend this weekend.  I've gotten to do things that I really wanted to do and be with friends that I love to be with.  I love weekends like this.  Last night I got to go to Fear Fest (now known as Halloween Haunt) at Kings Island with my husband.  Its the first time either of us has gotten to go, and we were both so excited to go.  I've wanted to go for years, but either I was the only one who wanted to go or my schedule wouldn't allow it.  ...
