Cruising on Wikipedia I came across the first portable computer aka a wannabe laptop, the Osborne 1. Its intial cost was US $1795.00 and it came with US $1500.00 in software. It ran the CP/M 2.2 Operating System, It had no onboard battery so you had to plug it in wherever you went. The display was a 5 inch screen and use of single sided, single density floppies x 4.  Excerpts from the article:   History [ edit ] The Osborne 1 was developed by  Adam Osborne  a...

Folks, may use the Android OS...especially for messaging. The app AirDroid has had 10-50 million installs not couting those done via the AirDroid website...and it's a very vulnerable app. AirDroid was approached quietly and said they would fix it, but in its latest update, no fixes were present.  "The security issues are mainly due to AirDroid using the same HTTP request to authorize the device and send usage statistics. The request is encrypted, but uses a hardcoded ke...

First I would like to point out that the user interface for windows eight was made for cell phones beca7se the screen is to small. It works really well for small screens. Now on a lab top or computer where screens are from 14" to30" why do I want huge icons. That is part of it why would I not want a start menu where I have a list of runnable programs. Don't get me wrong I like my program folder where I can go into it and do other things. Thus is why the desktop is superior. User accounts is ...

This device works through a Windows phone. It uses location and a network of info beacons in cities to determine location and routes to use in getting from one place to another. The device was developed with the charity "Guide Dogs" and it's available in Britain only at this point. Another interesting feature is that instead of using earbuds, it uses bone conduction through the jaw to relay information, thus not compromising the users ears to hear what's going o...

Verizon your provider? You can’t pay your bill? Not your fault. Turns out Verizon is having major problems with its billing software. The Northeast, Midwest and Southern regional customers are hitting a wall when trying to pay their bills. Worse? No ETA for a fix. Apparently this glitch isn’t affecting home phone systems or internet connection, but, if your bill is due right now, you could have problems. Engadget is tracking the problem, but so far no news of a fix...

I've written about Google Glass before...never figured California had the brains to enact a truly positive statute like this one. Well, that lady just received a citation in part for distracted driving.... She might just beat it: "California state law pertaining to the incident, V C Section 27602 Television, states that a person “shall not drive a motor vehicle if a television receiver, a video monitor, or a television or video screen, or any other similar means of ...

Anyone own a tablet?   I have a question.   Since most electronics today have lithium batteries, is it ok to leave a tablet plugged into the charger like you would a laptop?   Yrag once told me it was fine to leave my laptop plugged into the wall as much as I want.   I never unplug mine unless travelling.   Is the same ok for tablets?
