The NFL is the only place in the world where you spit at another person and he responds with a right hook to the face... that you are penalized, ejected, fined, and maybe suspended. But the guy who threw the punch is seen as the 'victim' and is not even reprimanded? From today's Washington Post : Since the NFL fined Redskins safety Sean Taylor only $17,000 yesterday for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman, the only thing we can conclude is that the league is ...
NOW fakes more than orgasms. The National Organization for Women fakes outrage when it comes to "insensitive comments" and football players... From today's Washington Post : A leader from the National Organization for Women has asked Joe Paterno to resign over comments the Penn State football coach made about an alleged sexual assault. Joanne Tosti-Vasey , president of the National Organization for Women in Pennsylvania, said yesterday that she was "appalled" by Paterno's comments...
During the NFL season, there are 3 teams that I root for. One, of course, is my favorite team, the New York Giants. The others are (in no particular order) - whoever is playing Dallas and whoever is playing Washington. So, since Dallas is playing Washington (in Washington), it's brought up a little conundrum. Who should I root for? Of course, I go through this at least twice a season (and once already this season.) Oh, the horrors!!! Is it possible for BOTH teams to lose? In the s...
Yep, it is that time of year... I mean, decade... I mean, ummm... century... where the record book stands up and cheers. Time to move the '72 Dolphins down a line and make room for the '05 Indianapolis Colts! I am absolutely behind anything Tony Dungy has to do to get the Colts to 16-0. Except get Peyton Manning hurt. Or Edgerrin James. Or, in the process, lose the Super Bowl. Is it about the ring, or is it about the undefeated season? Hmmm... maybe it is the ring after all...
The "Great Gonzo" returns, and will predict the winners of the following bowl games. New Orleans Bowl: Southern Miss (6-5) Arkansas State (6-5) -Winner: Southern Miss GMAC Bowl : UTEP (8-3) Toledo (8-3) -Winner: UTEP Las Vegas Bowl: BYU (6-5) California (7-4) -Winner: California Poinsettia Bowl: Colorado State (6-5) Navy (7-4) -Winner: Colorado State Fort Worth Bowl: Kansas (6-5) Houston (6-5) -Winner: Houston Haw...
NOTE: Sort of a rant Blegh! Again! Yet Again! The Ducks are gipped. Ohio State (9-2) Nine and two!? And *they* get a bid!? There we go, Another example of the fact that the BCS is the biggest Marketing firm ever. 2001 - Oregon is gipped, Nebraska, who had a worse record than oregon, gets the pick to play in the national championship. 2003 - USC Kept out of Natl. Championship depite being ranked #1 in both polls. 2004- California is passed over by Texas for bid in a BCS bowl. ...
Na na na na... na na na na.... hey hey hey.... GOODBYE! Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out Terrell.
The #7 ranked Oregon Ducks (BCS rankings) have to wait. Until December 4th to see if they will get an 'at large' birth in the BCS. The chances are slim with such power house teams as Notre Dame and Ohio State also vying for a spot. With USC having one game left against inner city rival UCLA, it looks like a lock that a USC-Texas Natl. championship will be played. 1. USC (10-0) Next Game: UCLA 12/04 -If the Trojans fumble against the Bruins it could present an opportunity for the D...
#1 >"The Iron Bowl" Alabama vs. Auburn Series Record: Alabama leads 38-30-1 (2004) Trophy: Omicron Delta Kappa-James E. Foy V Sportsmanship Trophy Notes: It's my personal favorite, and arguably the greatest rivalry in college football. This game literally stops a state. The teams didn't play from 1907 to 1948 because of various arguments between the schools. The trophy for this game isn't as important as the ownership of the state that comes with a win. #2 "The Civil War"
...
Civil War that is... This next Saturday is the annual "Civil War" between the University of Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers. This rivalry is considered the 5th harshest rivalry in college football. It has been played since 1894. And Oregon leads the series. (Not sure the exact) My pic is: Oregon Ducks - 45 Oregon State Beavers - 42 Any pics? Best Regards, Lucas
Just when I thought that this story would die down, now we have a new wrinkle in this whole engagement. Ralph Nader has come to the defense of Terrell Owens as the founder of the "League of Fans". He is asking that the Eagles' CEO re-instate T.O. on the grounds that a) he should be able to have his right to free speech and that by the organization's actions, they are denying the fans(particularly season ticket holders) the opportunity to see one of the best receivers in the game. If I am pi...
What is it with such college football teams, such as (specifically) the Oregon Ducks, in the AP/Coaches/Harris poll,s they are 11th, rising 4 spots... huh? Not only that, but they rose 2 spots in the BCS standings, and UCLA dropped to #5... WTF!? Is it me, or do certain teams get little or no respect in (IMO an unargueably biased) BCS poll? Another Example, 2001 season, the Oregon Ducks were "jumped" by Nebraska... (Nebraska!?) Who had lost 2 games, versus Oregons Undefeated season....
In the past few days, I've watched videos from two different wideouts... Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson, and despite some similarities in talents, I notice a stark contrast between them in attitude and team spirit. This isn't about things like the sharpie or the pepto-bismal.... it is more about their attitude about the game. Eagle Terrell Owens, as of the moment has been suspended for bad-mouthing his team and fellow players in an ESPN interview, and this is not the first time he has been...
To my knowledge, Louisiana is the only state that pays for our football team. You got it; we PAY for a team as wonderful as the Saints to play in our fair state. Prior to the hurricanes Tom Benson was trying to renegotiate his contract to get a new stadium. He has the freaking Super Dome and he wanted Louisiana's citizens to pay for a new stadium. He clearly has his own agendas. "I will not return to Baton Rouge for any reason, including any games scheduled for the end of this season o...
I couldn't beleive this when I read it.... Link A petition for Jake Plummer to re-grow his moustache?! You should read some of the comments left by people who actually signed the petition too.....talk about a looney bunch with nothing to do! Now instead of "save the whales" or some other environmental cause or any other worthwhile cause it's "Jake Plummer regrow your moustache!"
