I decided to buy my first domain name after some time searching, I found a good hosting site offerinf free space and domain registeration. What did I pick biostar.com ! why (wish I knew it just jumped into my head and now I'm stuck with it. It's menth to mean "A Living Star" but thats just a word I made up but it might catch on. Anyway my domain is http://www.biostarweb.com and yes this is a cheat way of promoting a site name on the web using the rss feed. But that how it starts . One of the ...

Hi Everyone, I'm the admin of a skinning website ; winmodify.net , and I spend a lot of effort/time/money on my website, and it's all free for our visitors. Recently we did a big relaunch which gave visitors much more options. We now have about 550 members but hardly anyone is posting comments on skins and news... it's driving me crazy, what can I do to get more people commenting on things, I want to expand my website much more but I need people's opinions on things, unfortunally there aren...

I haven't been around much in the last two weeks due to family & the holidays so this may have already come up. It looks like PearlDrop has closed down Art-n-skins. I saw a post several days (or weeks) ago in which she was contemplating closing up shop. I just tried the site and I'm directed to one of "those" pages. It's really a shame. There's quite a few familiar names there and it was one of the few places I could upload my photography in a "class" environment. The forums weren't active at ...

A friend turned me on to Pandora recently. That's the internet radio site that tailors its playlist to your musical tastes, based on attributes of the songs you tell it you like. (Like "mild rhythmic syncopation", "subtle use of vocal harmony", and "minor key tonality".) I gave it one of my favorite songs, and it came up with this awesome radio station. Some of the selections I thought were strange, like when it played another band's cover of the song I originally entered before it eve...

Finally, T-Shirt Hell has created a shirt that I can be personally offended by if I so choose. It's about damn time. Us white guys always get left out of these things.

Hey all, I have a web site i setup for my sister who runs a Salvation Army Corps. She has a request for something that im not sure how to do. Im SURE with all the people here (including stardock!) someone knows how to do this. She wants to display a candy cane or a tree, or maybe a kettle and have it FILL as the donations increase. something VERY similar to what WC had when it was showing the Subscription Drive. It needs to read the data from a database (thats not a big deal). ...

I know someof you might not thing that is really anything to write about, but for me, its great. I actually had a person looking at my work. I felt a little gratified. I have a few web projects online that I have been working on for 2 years. I finally seem to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and might have full working versions of my sites in a few months. So having someone on my site for the time they were on it was pretty cool. I really worked hard on it. It called Anno...

Dear People, I'm the admin of a recently relaunched website and have already put a lot of effort and money into it. Unfortunally I'm doiing the website all by myself and would like to see more people helping me with news-items etc.., I also would love to see comments made on news-items and uploaded skins, and with 500 unique visits it shouldn't be a problem I guess, but only 2-4 people are posting regularly. WC might had this problem too when they first started and I know there are mor...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a free place to host a website? I'm sick of Geocities because the site crashes whenever too many people visit. I wouldn't mind paying for a place, but I hate to put out a bunch of money and effort to discover.....that it sucks. Any suggestions?
