This is my first entry in my Mighty Musk Ox Adventure Blog. I'm experimenting to see if this will work. Ms. Musk Ox
My mum just called me - she didn't know whether to tell me last night when she called me or wait until tomorrow when it wasn't my birthday - but she didn't she called me today. My dad's cat Kiki Adele (it came to us 3rd hand with that name!) got hit by a car last night - apparently it was a hit and run. My dad's pretty upset. I'm not sure how the rest of the family or even I feel about this. (the cat dying not my dad being upset) Because none of actually liked kiki much - she used to f...

Every consumer product we buy has an impact on the environment. It is important to know which ones have less impact. Here is a programme to help. THE SCHEME: The issue of environmental protection has brought the consumers, the industry, and the government to a common platform where each has to play its own role. The government and legislatures are using their influence to reduce environmental and health hazards due to industrialisation and to stimulate the development of clean(er...

I have a calendar that has old english bulldogs on it.  I turned the page to 'May' on saturday, and this month's picture is of brindle bulldog puppies playing with a garden hose.  They're all fat and squirmy...looking at them I can almost smell that milky smell puppies have.  We're getting a bulldog pup when we get to England.  I've always, always wanted a bulldog, and so has Dave.  We looked at breeder web sites in the UK and found a couple of what appear to be pretty r...

We have a serious problem in this world. Our leaders appear to be blind to the consequences of their actions. Yes we need new energy sources, but drilling for oil in environmentaly sensitive areas is wrong. We need to develope better, cleaner and more renewable types of power. Unfortunately, most of those have nothing to do with Big Oil Interests, so they get pushed aside,(oh, right, Bush is from Texas,I almost forgot). Lets get of our easy chairs and try to do something. The Natural Resour...
I need a fucking trainer! My horse sucks, and I'm a big baby. I know I shouldn't be, but when she practically rears up on top of you and kicks out and just barely misses, it's hard not to be. I think I need a fucking trainer! I need to go to boot camp; I need someone to toughen me up. My brother can lunge her, and he's only 12. He's so good at it too! For those of you who don't know what lunging is, it's a way of exercising your horse. Basically you stand in the middle as your hor...
181 Hello there friends! There is only one day left until Spring Break! Yay! I have lots of plans for my lawn. I am going to dig a garden plot, start working on putting a path from my garage to my house, and I am going to make a cement base for a flagpole. (We are going to put Japanese carp streamers -koinobori- on the flagpole. We are doing that to celebrate the Japanese Children's Day holiday.) What comes with Spring Break? Spring time! With the arrival of Spring, we get to ...

I happen to be the proud owner of a beautiful long coat German shepherd dog. Yanna has taught me many wonderful lessons over the last 6 years. Lessons on life, love and the pursuit of happiness have all come out of this special relationship. Recently, we were outside working and Yanna was displaying one of her character defects quite boisterously. She is a stick hound, ball hound, rock hound, she is just a HOUND when it comes to retrieving. We were digging holes for fence posts and s...

The complaints are beginning to mount about Israel's own anti terrorism agenda and the government's methods. An Israeli helicopter gunship launched a missile into a group of people in the early morning hours and killed a defenseless paraplegic old man bent on the entire destruction of Israel and Jews. The missile also allegedly killed his caretaking, bodyguarding staff. Oops. Isreal has shown the greatest amount of patience and forethought and humanity throughout this incessant war. Figh...

I am a dog person at heart but our lifestyle right now isn't very dog friendly. The kids are to little to help out with a dog and we are too busy these days to take the time to properly train a dog. It would be like having another baby (not prepared for that either). I think pets are a very important part of life. We have had fish, frogs, turtles, and an iguana. These animals are pretty low maintenance but still are entertaining and teach the kids responsibility. The iguana was something I wa...

Animal shelters and rescue groups across the country are hurting for space year-round, but at this time of year especially they begin to bulge at the seams. Unfortunately, as a result, millions of beautiful and loving would-be family pets have to be put to death each year at shelters across the country. Something must be done and WE control the power to make that something happen. I would encourage you to visit www.petsandanimals.org and sign the petition to pass mandatory spay/neuter laws ...

These are taken out of Ken's portfolio. These have reminded me of the cushy and trouble-free occurences that keep us all sane everyday. I dunno where exactly in the Philippines these were taken, but anyway, these really look refreshing. I haven't gone nature tripping lately, and hopefully I could do one this summer. I was yakking over the phone with Ken just the other night, and he was recounting their hike to Banawe sometime August last year. It wasn't really the perfect season to brave th...
Hello there my friends. How are all of you today? I hope that everything is going well. I am writing this from my work. My kindergarteners have gone back to class, and I am about to get ready to go to one of my other schools. In two of the buildings where I work, my classroom is in an interior room. (Only one of my classrooms has a window with a view.) As I was teaching this afternoon, I heard voices from the other room talking about freezing rain. Apparently it started raining out...

So my mother calls me, a little calmer than normal, to tell me that my bird Rocky died. Its no secret that I didn't like the lil' f*cker but I only disliked him because he tried to bite me everytime I walked passed his cage. He was in my family a year more than me and I'm the still the little kid who made him a Christmas stocking and got him Christmas gifts. Just because we didn't see eye to eye on things doesn't mean I won't miss him.
