Hello All, I am creating this thread as a place to log and/or write about your daily workouts. I will try to keep a daily posting myself. Today I did a arm and shoulder workout that included alternating dumbbell curls, hammer curls, tricep kickbacks, and overhead extensions for arms. I did shrugs, front delt raises, upright rows for shoulders. I did three sets of ten each and concluded with 50 floor crunches. Be well.

After early reports swirled out of Channel 9, WUSA-TV in the D.C. market last week that Bud Selig and his cronies, I mean buddies, in MLB had apparently picked an owner for the Washington Nationals, the rumors were quickly denied and the report was trashed as the worst kind of ill-informed journalism. According to news today in both of the big area newspapers, it seems that the earlier report was true, and MLB has choosen the ownership group that was merely rumored last week. If the rep...

Last year, I ate crow and kept quiet.  Why?  The Upstart Nationals, the newest team in baseball was going gung-ho!  They were looking good and doing well.  And my team?  Sucking pig juice as usual.  And so I took some ribbing from the DC JU crowd.  Although the Nationals did not go anywhere, they did do a very respectable showing for their fans.  In time, they may be a real contender. But not this year! No, with the month of April down, the Mets are ...

So the Washington Nationals are in town this weekend and Sunday happens to be one of the Pepsi (oh, how I hate typing that name, as I really hate the rancid drink) Family Four Pack discount ticket deal days. It's a promotion that entails getting 4 tickets to the game (upper deck, cheapie seats), 4 hot dogs (over priced that they are, having already used the word rancid above, I can't comment on the fact that it seems many of the dogs at RFK seem like left overs from back in the days when th...

In the opposite vein of my last article, how about using the space below to tell me what your most beloved sports team (or teams) is (or are). Again, if possible, expound on your selection a bit, and tell me why you favor that (or those) team(s).

With all of the recent news lately surrounding the Duke Blue Devils and their now notorious Lacrosse team, I'm reminded of just how much I like to hate on the Dukies -- one of the archrivals of my beloved Terrapins. That hatred begs the question that I'm posing here for you all now -- what sports team, or sports teams, are you most hated and why? I have a couple of teams that I can fill in the blanks about, and will do so in my reply below. Please note that you're welcome to just leav...

Right now, this second, my husband is running the Boston Marathon. He is running with professional athletes from all over the world.  Professional meaning, they are sponsored and paid to run these races.  Hey, its a good gig if you can get it. This is the first time he is running against people from Africa and Italy.  Even as a "recreational" runner, he admires the sheer speed and endurance of these athletes. The runners are wearing GPS on their shoe strings.  (Shock...

As a baseball fan, and primarily, a Seattle Mariners fan, I go back to the days when the Mariners' highest attendance occured at a "funny nose and glasses" promo, inspired by outfielder Tom Paciorek, where Groucho Marx glasses were handed out to everyone in attendance. The M's were less than a laughinstock; an SI story detailed hotel booking complications where the desk clerk couldn't even pronounce the team name right. Ken Griffey Junior changed all that, along with a stellar supporting clas...

Lest anyone mistake a lack of time to blog for a lack of happiness at the news of the Lady Terps taking the NCAA Womens Basketball Championship crown for the 2005-2006 season, dream on. Coach Brenda Frese and her team deserve all of the glory and attention that they earned in their great win over the hated Blue Devils from Duke. Maryland joins a select group of NCAA Division 1 schools that won both Mens and Womens championships in basketball. They also have the luxury of having both of...
Sasha Cohen is arguably the most graceful figure skater since Peggy Fleming. She is a ballerina on ice and despite her infectious shortcomings in jumps, she manages to medal in competition--but never the gold. At Calgary she was the overwhelming favorite as she was at Torino where she had to settle for silver because she simply has not the athletic confidence to consistently perfect her jumps and again she failed miserably at Calgary but because of her impeccable artististic style eked...

WOW! With appologies to Bluedev who is in mourning, I have to say the George Mason/Connecticut game was awesome! And the Verizon Arena was rocking in anticipation of an upset! They were not denied. I am not a GMU fan. My team is in their league, and was the highest ranked (81) not to make it into either tournament. Tough cookies. So I am not a GMU fan. Until now! Hell yes! I think the media wants a cinderella team every year, and usually they blow it. Pick one and it loses. It is media hype....

Apparently Barry Bonds isn't afraid of taking the rumored Tom Cruise/ Scientology approach (if you haven't followed that tiff, then you haven't been following the South Park, Chef, Scientology, Tom Cruise is in the Closet controversy and I can't help you much there, but oh well) and is now reportedly going to sue the authors of the book that makes well documented claims that Bonds has used steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in his quests to become MLB's greatest homerun hitter of ...

It's over. All over.  Not even making it to the Elite Eight.  LSU outplayed us tonight, no doubt.  Painful.  Wow, that was an incredibly painful game to watch.
Late last night, Team Japan beat Team Cuba 10-5 in the finals of the World Baseball Classic. Although the lopsided score doesn't seem so close, the game was actually really competitive and exciting. The international teams were very impressive, and the determination of the teams, and intensity of the competition rivaled the MLB post-season. The games were definitely more exciting than spring training games! Even though the tournament was exciting, there are certainly some things to impr...

NFL commish Paul Tagliabue has announced is retirement in July ( Link ). Tagliabue, whose tenure began in 1989 when he succeeded Pete Rozelle, is staying on until NFL labor talks are complete. As an NFL fan, I can't say I'll particularly miss him, but it does seem like another era is over. Now if we can only inspire MLB's Bud Selig to follow suit, we'd be set.
