Stardock has updated its forums to support a new kind of view -- summary view. Now when you go to the forums, you will see at the top right, just under the search bar, a "Forum summary" link.  Pressing this will display the forums in a different way -- it will display the last 5 active posts in each primary category in the forum. This view will allow users who are interested in browsing the forums as a whole a way to keep up to date easier with what's going on.  Subsequent u...

Windows XP provides the tools you need to work and play in today's high-speed communications environment. Your toolbox includes system tools that help you set and adjust system resources, users and user groups, and scheduled system tasks. Accessories help you get the job done, no matter what the job is. You can create documents and images, calculate figures, schedule your time, and have online meetings with co-workers. When it's time to enjoy some music, browse the Internet, or play a few gam...
Anyone who's been on JoeUser long enough remembers the days of diamond-d, Orrin Woodward, Island Reef Casino etc.  These were blogs that pushed either a company, a product or a service.  Often times they would submit a flood of posts to crowd out the Recent Articles list.  And it turns out that some of those blogs were part of a Google bombing effort to raise one company's Google ranking.  These were articles that didn't invite discussion, and were usually bad copy-paste jobs...
Every day, thousands of people come by this website, and many of them participate on the forums, leave comments on skins, icons, themes etc.  One of the things that makes WinCustomize great is the community interaction, the ability to swap opinions and ideas, and even just regular everyday chit-chat.  Forums are great for community building, but sometimes you want a more immediate reaction, or you're bored and want someone to entertain you for a little while.  For those who want m...

Skinartistry has a name for their mascot. After you fine folks made your suggestions, we put it up for a vote, and the result is "Sam". Details of the voting can be seen on the site A big thanks to Po'Smedley for creating and allowing us to use this for our mascot. Drop on by and say hello to Sam, he loves the attention! Link
Welcome to Brad's tips on how to use the new forums.  The new Stardock forums are custom developed based on the needs and uses of our customers. Over the years, we have experimented with many different layouts with varying degrees of success. Background The 2006 Stardock forums have many advantages over previous generations: Bandwidth - they use about 1/4th the bandwidth of previous forums we've used which means they load a lost faster. They use a lot more AJAX/Javascript based te...
Posted on the Central Texas College Distance Learning site: Mon, Jul 24, 2006 -- Email Issues We have discovered an issue that may block our email server from transfering messages to some military accounts and servers. The issue is being repaired currently and email traffic to all military sites should be reset by Wed. 07/26/2006. Please use the BB message system for intercourse communications until the issue has been fully repaired. Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with any "inter...

Each week I participate on a podcast called PowerUser.TV.  There's a lot of banter and for most listeners, I think the banter is the draw. But some people don't like all the banter and joking around and wish we'd "edit it". In fact, we do edit it a lot. A LOT.  Yesterday we recorded the show that will show up on Monday (you can listen to the shows at PowerUser.TV).  Below are two examples (of many) of what got edited out (transcript): Kristin: So Derek, were you there when ...

Everyone at Joe User is just so happy and fun! You have to have a sense of humor with a name like Joe User! I was considering starting a blogsite dedicated to the discussion of marriage. I was going to call it Harry Crabs. My wife balked, so I digress. There is really no virtual community to compare to the honest, open perspective that Joe User has. There should be more like it. This world would be a much richer, more diverse place. I, as soooooooo many others are just grateful to be ...

So . . . just a thought. I've been reading around on people's blogs a lot, especially the last couple of days. This is mostly in consequence of my lack of creative juices, in many aspects of my life. (Can't write a damn song, can't think of a story idea, can't blog worth crap.) But as I've read around, a lot of really, really pointless (read: nonsensical) comments have been left on a lot of the blogs around here. They are filled with words that have no meaning, no coherence, no point. ...

Why is it that some girls put there picture on myspace with a line under it says, "I'm so ugly in this pic..." when you know they don't think they are, or they wouldn't put it up. And why are there so many young girls showing their cleavage, and butt crack, and such. They are all way too young for even me to look at, it's pretty sick. I avoid those girls at all costs. I wanted to talk in this blog about friends on myspace. I have probably 20 friends, all of which I know personally. It'...

Another blog. Do I really need another blog? Probably not. But, this community seems interesting so I'll try it out. A little geek history for those who don't know me (which would be almost everyone). I've been running my own website since 1996 (which you can still find online if you use the wayback machine ). Yes, that was on Geocities, but in my defense, it was before Yahoo bought them. I moved to my own domain in 1999, using the same name that I'd been using online since 1986. ...
