Softwheel has done just that. They invented a wheel whose spokes are shock absorbers as well as a dynamic suspension system. What do I mean? I mean that the ‘spokes’ are shock absorbers which alter their length according to task: What this means, is that the wheel can go over any type of surface with each wheel on essentially, an independent suspension and absorb the shocks of going over rocks and up or down stairs. The way these shocks/spokes are connected? ...

Mr. Barry Clifford may have found the Santa Maria. The ship was lost off Haiti on its last voyage in December, 1492 when it ran aground on a reef. The really interesting part of the story is that Mr. Clifford found the wreck back in 2003, but didn’t realize its significance. He found some ballast stones and a ship’s cannon. That cannon was misclassified in 2003. Two years ago, while researching the cannons in use during Columbus’ time, he awoke in the middle of the night wi...

If I take a picture of a picture is it mine to do as I choose? I'm talking about tin signs I've collected over the years that I think would make good walls, free to use of course.

Many will greet this with fear, and its misuse should be feared. However, if you can, suspend the fear for a moment, and revel in the wonder of what has been achieved. For the first time, molecular geneticists have achieved a truly wonderful thing. They have performed the precise repair of a damaged gene, and that gene only. This was what I considered would be the ultimate triumph of Medicine. The scientists at MIT have used two enzymes (from a bacterium) to locate and correct a ...

Guys, I thought I'd break a pattern and write a post about me, for a change....heheh...    This Friday, I will be having an ablation. For those who don't know, it's a simple procedure where the Dr. will do a heart catheterization through my groin, up a vein/artery, and into my heart. He will cauterize a line of spots on the inside of my atrium in an effort to correct my atrial flutter. If that doesn't work, I will be fitted with a pacemaker.   A m...

On March 14th, a disturbing news item slipped by unnoticed. We were all entranced by the Malaysian Triangle. I don’t think JFK’s and RFK’s assassinations together with the late President Reagan’s attempted assassination garnered so many news hours… So what’s the big deal? Supposedly American stewardship of the Internet was always supposed to be temporary (really?). The U.S. government announced plans to relinquish Federal control over ICANN. This...

Well, I hope this isn't spam, but I'll risk it for a good cause. Guys, as I did last year, I'm walking for The March Of Dimes and Eli's Miracle Makers is the team I'm with. Eli is an awesome child....you gotta love him.   Anyway, I hope you'll stop by my site and maybe make a donation, or just stop and look.   It's a really good cause, and I need the exercise...lol.   Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small an...

You’ll be receiving no Valentine from this CUPID: The Chaotic Unmanned Personal Intercept Drone. This via Zach Honig at Engadget . photocredit Engadget This drone ‘copter delivers an 80,000 Volt zap. The developers say it’s for use against ‘bad guys’. She and her family escaped the Nazis during WWII. Her mother wrote a book providing the plot for the play and movie. During and after the war, her family toured and sang, becoming very popular. They eventually settled in their ski resort in Vermont. Rest In Peace....

As we get 'older' we tend to come across real cars....versus kiddies' speed racers aka cop bait/hoon cars. This is one I sat in tonight.... Again I don't 'fit' ...it's designed to suit a 6'6" type...so I couldn't reach the pedals.... The other one I couldn't fit into was a D-Type Jaguar replica ... my knees hit the dashboard. Dang it....I want one that fits! BTW the Jag owner is building a Daytona Cobra....and I might just be able to fit int...
Sometimes I’ll hear someone marvel at how amazing it is that humans have been able to adapt from hunting and gathering to the information age so well in just 10,000 years.  Of course “so well” is subjective.  In reality, as a species, we’re struggling with it. A lot. Most of my friends who are, let’s say, economic peers of mine, suffer from a surprisingly consistent set of brain demons as I do.  The brain demons giveth and taketh.  I suspect many of you readi...
