For 32 years I have lived in the same house in Melbourne, Australia and 5 years more before then - nearby....and all up - about 60 years over 3 places. In that time the population of Melbourne has more than doubled [almost tripled] and in a few years will pass Sydney to be Australia's largest city. Instead we moved to Ballaarat [also in Victoria]...and only the 3rd largest city in Victoria, population 101 thousand. And that got me to thinking.... The USA has 300 million peo...
Blade Runner, The Hitcher...
Or rather....I blew it... In all my 64 years on the planet I'd never seen snow falling - LIVE. As some might know....I'm in the process of moving home after 32 years in the same house in Kensington, Melbourne [Oz] and am moving to Ballaarat [correct spelling] which is roughly 100km West from Melbourne. Today, while leaving there to return to 'home' I ended up driving in my first-ever sight of snow falling. "Thrilling", I hear you say....but for me it was a novel experience....effing ...
I'm going to Mars next year. At least my name is. NASA is inviting the public to send their names on the next rover set for launch next year and touch down on Mars in February of 2021. I submitted my name and got this.
Was waiting for this. There is actually an image of the event horizon. Gotta love it.
Will a self driving car be able to see in dense fog in the day time? I use fog lights and slow down. What happens when the detector can't see but the brain box thinks it still can? Human drivers know from instinct what other human drivers might do in many driving situations. Human drivers can't predict what self driving cars will do, adding another layer of uncertainty and possible chaos to a human's drive. How many miles have the people driven who think self driving cars is a good idea? ...
This popped up on the news a couple of hours ago. Two well known actresses, a co-founder of a global law firm and other assorted very rich people shelled out millions of dollars to get their kids into elite colleges. Why am I not surprised.
Well like the title says I'm back in the hospital because my COPD kicked up big time. Shortness of breath, ugly loud coughs and coughing up ugly phlegm. The mass in my lung is still there and I'm to see a cancer doc soon for palliative care options. Could be surgery or chemo or radiation. The surgery part I'm hoping is a last resort. I'll do the other nonsense and be a bald person, no problem. Then I can make other people jealous. I've had three breath therapies since I've been here. Got here ar...
Sadly she has passed away. RIP Penny.
You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this: COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you? COSTELLO: Thanks I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer. ABBOTT: Mac? COSTELLO: No, th...
So this is my question... We have a game going since 2009, the ban game. Very popular too, people come from all over the place to ban stuff. Another popular game was the Borg game. It got kinda tired and retired. So, since it is pumpkin season why not a game for the holiday called the Pumpkin game and instead of using Borg we use Patch. For example...I am Pumpkin so and so of Patch, make me a pie. Or some such. I dunno, it sounded good at the time.

I have been running the "Encounter Weather, version 1.0, by Stardock Design" on my Windows 7 PC for years. Today, I got a message that it "Can't reach Accuweather". Does anyone know if Accuweather changed their Web Service or their security policy to no longer allow weather widgets made for DesktopX to retrieve data? I know that years ago there was a huge complaint from weather information companies that prevented several Stardock objects and widgets from using their servers. Maybe AccuWeathe...
