OK, here goes. What is your all time favorite movie? Mine - My Fair Lady
If you haven’t seen Superman Returns yet YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT! Especially if you’ve been a lover of the idea of the man of steel since a child. Locamama’s recent article about it was great. And like her, I won’t give anything away, but seriously, you really, really have to go see it, before it comes out on DVD. Why you wonder? The sheer magnificence of it! It lived up to my expectations of what I know Superman movies to be. The Superman that was Christopher Reeves that is. ...
With the combative attitude of the prop forward he once was, my Irish history teacher Mr. Armstrong was the perfect debating opponent. As he guided us through the dramatic years from 1912-23 which led to the formation of the two Irish states, he constantly challenged the assumptions of the only nationalist in the class - me. Davie (as we called him behind his back) took the revisionist view, holding up the well-worn myths of Irish history to the cold light of his Ulster scepticism. On the...
I understand some of the gripes. It certainly is not the film that Singer would have done. No, it does not mirror the comics storyline or character development, although there are certainly enough nods to those that any enthusiast's zeal should be sated. But still, purists gripe. Is it the final episode? I've heard complaints about this. The vacuous Halle Berry has stated in interviews that if fan support was strong enough she has no doubt there would be a fourth installment. For tho...
Putting aside the fact that we are talking about a comic book movie which means it is full of cliches and crummy dialog, X-Men 3 was easily the best of the 3. Director Ratner, not a popular guy amongst fans, managed to crank out one hell of a good ride. There was some sloppy editing but overall, the number of times I went "OH MY GOD! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THAT!" was higher than any franchise film I've ever seen. This movie is no-holds barred. I suspect the more you like the comic book ...
Yes it is! Sometimes it’s really good to leave something alone. Don’t try to re-hash it, go over it, re-make it. That’s because sometimes the second time around can be a total disaster! For example, there seems to be a lot of movie remakes these days. These remakes are based on a book, a comic book or another movie. Truthfully, many of them I haven’t seen, those that I have seen however, and from the reviews I’ve read and the trailers I’ve seen as well as opinions of friends ...
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1181589,00.html I remember back in High school the entire school got to go see Schindler's List for free. It was heralded as one of the most important films ever made. I skipped out on it. Why? Because victim mentality is not my thing. Yes it happened, yes it's horrible, if we bothered to actually understand why it happened in the first place, then that would be important knowledge. But we don't, and a movie that worships the average Jew...

Here’s my review on the movie Serenity by Universal. When I first saw it on the TV commercials I wanted to see it. It’s a SciFi and I love SciFi. It looked like it had plenty of action and was hoping not to be disappointed when I started watching it. The movie has a style of a cross between Star Wars and Star Trek. A large group of humans leave earth looking for new places to live cause the human population has grown too big for the planet to sustain them all. They found a new solar system ...

This movie based on the 1950's black and white TV show about a Bus Driver and his upstairs sewer repairing best friend always trying to find easy ways to make money to move up in life. Great TV show with Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, two great comedians of their times. I watched it as a child and still love it today. In this movie, Ralph (played by Cedrick The Entertainer, a great comedian) as usual is looking for a quick scheme to make fast money, specially when Alice (played by Gabrielle...
Wolf Creek is reminiscent of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in that it is merciless in its meanness and fear. Like Chainsaw, Wolf Creek has discovered a new terror. It does all this without high-tech special or visual effects, and makeup. Wolf Creek puts the clamps on you and will not let go until the final terrifying end. In the meantime, you will have suffered more than be entertained. The characters here, like in any other slasher film, are merely around to be slaughtered. Three students ...

I don't often write reviews or recommendations for movies. Tastes can vary so wildly among viewers that it's hard to know when someone else might enjoy a movie that I hate, or hate a movie that I might like. With that all said, I do feel compelled to write a review with high praise for a film that just made it's way onto DVD. Readers of my blog may have seen prior articles about some members of my extended family, our pets which include a green cheek conure, a ring neck parrot/keet and a...
I didn't know what to expect when I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  Of the books, GoF is my favorite and so I cringed at the thought of it getting messed up.  I was not happy at all with the last movie, Prisoner of Az which I think sacrificed too much of the story in order to turn in a "lean" movie.  The first two Harry Potter movies were merely okay in my opinion.  American directors, for some reason, end up making movies that look amazingly c...
What a film! Super genius! Cracking good fun, wouldn't you say, Gromit? I have got to hand it to Nick Park, he has a skill that has been honed to a finely-tuned art. His ability to make stop-motion photography into a seamless, flawless moving picture is beyond belief. Such an entertaining film. I have been a fan of the original Oscar-winning short cartoons for years, as have my children, but Curse of the Were-Rabbit was more than just a longer version of the originals. It de...

When it comes to video sales of sports-related DVDs, nobody comes close to topping WWE. According to the latest information from Billboard.Biz, which tracks the video sales of sports DVDs, the top five sports DVDs sold this past week were WWE-related. “Tombstone: History of the Undertaker” is currently No. 1 on the charts, followed by “The Great American Bash 2005” and “WrestleMania 21”, which has been on the Top 20 charts for 17 straight weeks. Meanwhile, “Road Warriors: The Life an...
