I went to see the Longest yard today. it was the best! i didn't know that nelly was going to be in it! If you think that he is a stud muffin now, you should see him in this movie! WHISTLE! WHISTLE!!! I'm not a big fan of his music but he can take his shirt off any time! Or if he wants to go any farther be my guest! Seriously though its not just the men, The movie it's self is really good to. I'm a total Band freak, so i'm used to football (when your best friend is a football player you le...
If you've ever seen a Kung Fu movie, ever looked back on those movies that came on the Fox Network in the 80's on Saturday afternoons or after midnight with nostalgia (shame they don't do that anymore.. too high-falutin, I suppose).. then this is the movie for you. Stephen Chow (director/actor) does a fantastic job with "Kung Fu Hustle" (also known as "Gong Fu"), a comedy/drama complimented by fantastic martial art choreography. A slight morality tale of being true to oneself, and good...
I saw it over the weekend. Frankly I think the popcorn at my local theater is getting better. Usually it has the same taste and consistency as salty cardboard but this time there was a little bit of butter flavoring to it that really brought out the subtlety of the cardboard. Not too salty either. I don't like it when you pop a piece in your mouth and the texture is gritty from salt. Sometimes when popcorn gets old and you crunch a piece just right it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard and...
I saw the midnight showing of Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. I'll say up front that I was very pleased. There's no question this is the best of the prequels, and might possibly become my favorite of the entire series. I'll have to see it a few more times and get the DVD to be sure though. I will white-out anything in this article that might be close to a spoiler for Episode III. You'll see SPOILER, and then a bunch of blank space. If you want to read what's there, select the hi...
BBC did it better. Not by much...
I didn't know what to expect when I went to see this today with my mother. I mean, it's a movie about the crusades. I figured it was going to be something to do with Christianity and the holiness of the whole thing. Man, was I wrong. At the very beginning we get an inkling of what this is about. On one of the beams of the blacksmith's forge in Latin is a phrase (sorry for the killing of it, I can't remember it exactly) "A man is not a man who has not made the world a better place." We l...
In which I continue to comment on movies I haven't seen. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory This one will go into the unnecessary remake hall of fame. From Johnny Depp's bizarre, cloying take on the character, to that insipid theme music that sounds like a bad cover-band version of the Itchy and Scratchy tune, this has all the makings of a train wreck. Johnny Depp is such a critic's darling right now, he'll no doubt be highly praised. How long till they sign him up as Rhett Butler...
[Okay, I wrote this a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post it.] Why should not having seen a movie stop me from babbling about it? Besides, you can tell a lot from a trailer. Caveat Lector's in place, let's proceed. Batman Begins Stupid title. Stupid casting. (Michael Caine as Alfred?!?!?!) Stupid Batmobile. It'll make at least $150 million. As much as I love Batman, this one is leaving me indifferent. The first scenes I saw got me excited, the last ones left...
My husband and I are avid movie-watchers. I mean, AVID. We watch a movie, analyze it, watch it again.. Now granted, there are movies that you really don't need to put a lot of thought into. But those really flashy special effects movies, the ones you wait with baited breath for.. that's what this is about and how movies are going to fare in the post-"Lord of the Rings" movie era. This past week, we bought "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" and got a copy of "I, Robot". Two very dif...
Review of Exorcist: The Beginning Directed by Renny Harlin, and set in 1949, this prequel takes Father Merrin, who has abandoned God and the church, to Kenya to be part of a British archaelogical dig where evil has been unearthed. At every turn, Merrin is privy to displays of violence that take him in flashback form to the atrocities he'd witnessed at the hand of the Germans during WWII. In the quest to send evil back where it belongs, he rediscovers his faith, and the knowledge that evil can...
Back in 1994, during my first tour in Korea, a bunch of us heard of this movie that was causing a buzz back in the states. All the GI's coming from the states were telling us how great this moive "Pulp Fiction" was. We were really excited to see this movie, but at the time, it could take anywhere from 4 months to 50 years for a movie to get from the states to the military bases in Korea. We were pretty bummed by this until one of the guys found out that Pulp Fiction was playing at one of the ...
"Meu Tio Matou Um Cara" é o terceiro longa-metragem do gaúcho Jorge Furtado.
Will Smith finally, made a movie that isn't total caca!!!! He's made good ones before, but it's been awhile. This movie was great. It keeps you guessing to the end and is very entertaining along the way. The sets and the future they've conjured up for 2035 looks like what the baby would look like if Blade Runner and Minority Report had a kid together. Very cool sets and story. Check it out, yo!!!!
This movie was fantastic!!! Tom Cruise does some of his finest acting. Jamie Foxx pulls his weight. And Michael Mann kicks ass delivering the film as the ultimate underbelly of L.A. thrill ride. Wicked Awesome!!!
