Wow, its another day bringing with it other challenges and presures which I put together and call 'life'. Its a different chapter of life. I should say I was finding it difficult to wake up this morning owing to the fact that the wheather is a bit on the cold side than was yesterday and the day before. You see, I am in a foreign country,South Africa, Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth to be precise, which I like very much, but my point is I am coming from a country where summer is the current season...

I am a net admin for a small company. We have roughly 100 employees at 4 sites. We really do our best to provide as much protection for our business without spending any more money than necessary. We outsource our mail filtering so that we do not need to hire an additional person to manage it and so on. In our main office our physical security is great. We have card access doors and you can't get on the floor without passing 3 or 4 cameras even if you bypass the receptionist and come in th...
I work for a small company (about 100 employees). We have spent a lot of time trying to secure our network from external threats. We use an outside filtering service on our email to protect us from SPAM and virus threats. We have an excellent firewall. The services we offer to our clients and employees outside of the office are closely guarded so that if a problem arises we know of it quickly. We simply ask a few things of our users. Don't check you personal email. Don't browse the web fo...

At 4PM EST (which is about 35 minutes from now) we will be having a Stardock conference on #stardock on the IRC server irc.stardock.com. Users can go into the #questions channel to ask questions and then those questions will be relayed over to #stardock where Stardock's development team will be answering them. The topics of discussion are primarily DesktopX 3, DesktopX 3 Pro, and Multiplicity.  But other topics are open for discussion as well. Hope to see you there!
I'm writing this from 35,000 feet over Chicago. It's incredibly clear out tonight so I can see all of Chicago it seems like and it is quite a site. And I say that as someone who travels regularly. So this past week I went on the media tour.  In this case, a media tour is where I and our marketing goddess (Cordelia) fly out to visit the magazines to show them what we're doing in the hopes they'll cover us.  On the games side, getting coverage is always a challenge. It gets a bit ...
The corruption in India has become unbearably rampant during the past decade—it is palpably visible in all spheres of the socio-political life, especially in the Judiciary. The cases of Mr. Ramaswamy (a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India-- against whom a Motion for Impeachment was moved in the Indian Parliament) and Mr. Shamit Mukherjee (a former Delhi High Court Judge who was arrested in cases allegedly involving serious graft-charges, including womanising) are only a few of the we...

Six Basic Reasons Why Visitors Stay On Your Web Site The first page appears quickly. It's a good way to have your brief tagline in the starting page of your web site and your company logo. Highlight the benefits and advantages of your products on the starting page. But don't dump all the information on it so that it will appear quickly. Limit your graphic to a file size of 20 KB or less. It's purpose is immediately and clearly identified. Say what you want to say and say it brief...

The following was taken from the Wall Street Journal, brought to you through cut-and-paste from the Early Bird News (courtesy of the Department of Defense). I felt that it was important enough to just bring it to you with minimal comment, but I know greywar (for one) is going to like this one. (Apologies to anyone who was looking for a book review for anything written by Eric Olson.) Wall Street Journal October 19, 2004 Pg. 19 Through A Shattered Glass, Darkly It's fashiona...

Stardock is a pretty fun place to work at. That's probably why our turnover is so low. In fact, I'd say much of our success rests on the fact that we have such low turn over.  And our rapid growth has created all kinds of opportunities that we haven't had before. Stardock is located on south eastern Michigan. The weather is very pleasant here in this part of the state most of the year with Winters being well..wintery but not brutally cold. It's pretty hard to compete with Michigan weather in ...
