I don't think I would ever get anything done if it weren't for deadlines. And if we're being honest, nor would anyone else. I started today with a pile of stories to write and phone calls to make, eight hours to do it in and a pretty low energy level. Seven hours later my workload has been more than dented, it's been well mangled and even has some serious looking holes in it. In fact you could say it looks as if it will collapse within the hour. My energy level has remained pretty stable (how...
1. What is 'IT Outsourcing' and what is 'Offshore Outsourcing'? Ans. In the first sense, "IT outsourcing" means hiring somebody outside your company to provide IT services. Outsourcing is most common for companies whose IT needs are well known in advance. IT outsourcing can also mean hiring someone to be your IT department. Such a partner must have people who can work closely with your staff to understand your unique business problems so that you can deliver, implement, and service unique ...
Ans. Outsourcing used to be a tactic to improve operations and financial performance of troubled organizations. Today's outsourcing has evolved to be a preferred method of doing business by companies for numerous positive reasons. You MAY be an outsourcing candidate IF you are asking yourself: :: Are my resources being utilized effectively? :: Do the department's objectives support the corporate direction? :: Can my IT department enhance our corporate financial goals? :: Are th...
At BrickRed, we have built a culture that attracts exceptionally talented people; People who thrive on and have an intense passion for understanding and solving implementation problems for our customers. At firs I was really sure about going to grad school. Then I was at a point where I wasn't sure because no one was hiring and I am getting in the field of technology and business. Then it starts to look OK out there. Basically I though that technology is the way to go because it is forever changing and getting into different fields. I originally was in Architecture (and hope to go back) and even with my future masters degree in business administration would make me a better entry level drafte...

My employer has a certain catchphrase used to berate the humble minions, most often three or four colleagues who are in a particular role. I can't repeat it here; it will instantly identify this employer. All I can say is that it is extremely pejorative, highly unprofessional, and that this phrase is used, in one mayor's immortal words, "early and often". We're always getting lectured on this and that business book-of-the-month to read. I've read all sorts of books, from Peter Drucker to ...

First of all apologies for the lack of updates. My mind is all over the place at the moment with move planning etc. There's so much to do especially when i think I may be in the US in less than 4 months! So much to do, so little time. Anyway - thanks to everyone for their tolerance! Updates on key things: Marvel: DX work (and most other things) are done now so soon we should be in a position to sell this ImpressionCreator: Angie's done some really great work on this. It's really frus...
In attempts to find some a higher level of code reuse as far as user-defined controls are concerned, I turn to the asp.net custom controls.  These controls give the developer a way to encapsulate some commonly used "Stuff" over and over again promoting reusable code. ahh yes reusability, the dream of every man and woman.  Of course we have seen it done in all languages and asp.net is definately no different and promotes it with Custom User Controls, and Custom Server Controls. Cu...
