I haven't been looking into building a new computer or upgrading the one I have recently, but that doesn't mean I haven't been hearing the buzz about all of the hard-to-find CPUs that have hit the market over the last year or so. I know, for instance, that AMD's Ryzen 5000 series has been fairly impossible to find. A few of my friends have been looking and the only luck they've had locating it is with a pretty inflated price tag attached. These processors have been around for a little while n...

Master skinner and long-time WinCustomize member 2of3 has been sharing some awesome WindowBlinds skins, and I wanted to feature some of them in the news this week.  Thanks for creating these wonderful themes, and we can't wait to see more!   Gekko   Sovereign   Cole   Radiolux

Everyone has preferences in gaming. Some people prefer to play a game for some heart-pounding, fast-paced action. Others might enjoy something a little more serene, like a nice puzzle or “find it” game. Some play for the mechanics of the game itself, and others might play a game primarily for the story. There are lots of reasons that I play games, but one of the things that compels me the most about them is the story. The gameplay could be incredible, and I’d probably...

In an article from Bloomberg released last Saturday, Jason Schrier reports that Amazon's video game division canceled the development of an online MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) based on the fantasy series Lord of the Rings. Amazon announced the game back in 2019 to loads of fan excitement, but apparently one does not simply create a hit MMORPG.  A photo from Steve Jackson's Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the RingThe developers at Amazon Game Studios were dev...

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about a trending color called Electric Tangerine. I think it's a beautiful spring and summer color, and I think at least a few of you agreed. 2of3 and don5318 have released WindowBlinds skins that have some of that color integrated in the design. These are both fantastic skins so be sure to check them both out! Cole by 2of3   Tangerine II by don5318 Thanks for taking time to create and share these skins with the WinCustomize community! ...

On April 2nd I went to renew my OD but accidently purchased a new key instead of renewing my old one.  I submitted and ticket as soon as I saw the error with the hopes of getting this fixed.  It's been over 2 weeks since I did that but haven't heard anything back.  Is that normal?
So I keep my Mac and PC next to each other. Broadly speaking, even taking multiple monitors out of the picture, I find the PC more productive.  This is primarily a difference in how Windows and Mac work.  This wasn't always the case but over time, Microsoft has added a lot of nice little short-cuts and tweaks that just don't seem to exist on the Mac. Even little things in the Mac seem needlessly complicated. For instance, on Windows 10, I can hit Windows Key - Shift S to take...

I don’t worry too much about constantly tidying and organizing my PC - until it gets annoying, anyway. By then it’s too late, and I spend all sorts of time sorting icons and renaming folders. I’ll admit that I am pretty much the same way with my house - the idea of ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’ has never really resonated with me. This creates a special sort of chaos, which is fine - until it isn’t. I know that if I had a system in pla...

Image courtesy of NASABack in February, NASA's Perseverance rover landed on the surface of Mars. Perseverance is equipped with all sorts of amazing tools and gadgets - including the first ever Mars Helicopter, Ingenuity. Originally, the helicopter was scheduled to attempt its first flight early Monday morning, but data that NASA scientists received late last week have caused them to postpone the flight to no earlier than April 14th (that's today - wonder if we'll get an upda...

We discussed last year how many travels plans were cut due to the pandemic, so I thought it would be fun to check in and see if anyone has started making any travel plans yet. As I mentioned in that post, we had several cruises cancelled, and took a break from planning for at least the rest of that year. Since the cruise industry is still being shut down by the CDC, we hope that lawsuits by the state of Florida and the pressure from other governors and the industry associations will get thing...

We've mentioned spring desktop wallpapers recently, but of course there's much more you can do for spring than just change your wallpaper.  One of my favorite skins to use for spring is from don5318 called Simple Green. This is a nice WindowBlinds skin that has an overall minimal design, but with beautiful touches of spring colors sprinkled in. Not specifically designed for spring, but Reality by LightStar has a perfect color scheme that matches well with a bunch of spring an...

I received a call last night from Mary Jane's son.  His Mom passed away yesterday. He was going through his Moms phone book to tell people.  The link goes to her Windowblinds here...when there is an obituary, if there is, I will post it here.    We never know when we will die, so be kind to others, say I love you more often.....

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel! Vaccinations are rolling out and we’re all one step closer to being back together in person at the office. I know I don’t just speak for myself when I say that we’ve missed each other so much.  We’re still not quite ready to gather in person yet, so we’ve been taking our game nights online for the last year or so. A couple Fridays ago, we hosted an online trivia night using Discord. We offered a $20 Amazon gift...

The USS Johnston - photo courtesy of Caladan OceanicThis week, in "science is cool," the main section of a ship that sunk 77 years ago during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in World War II has been discovered off of the Philippine coast. Resting over 4 miles beneath the surface, the USS Johnston is the deepest shipwreck ever to be investigated. The 376-foot long Fletcher-class destroyer was discovered in the Philippine Trench near Samar Island at a depth of 21,180 feet (6...
