Anybody know of a window switcher plus one box search app?

I'm thinking a combination of https://contexts.co/ and https://www.alfredapp.com/. Launch a new app or switch to a running window (including browser tabs) with a few keystrokes, all from the same main launcher bar.

Done right, that'd pretty damn powerful. Instead of splitting launching and switching into separate apps, separate contexts, combine them together into the same command based syntax. And there's many more ...

Brad recalls the days of Elemental's rough launch, what we learned from it, and how we did our best to make it right for all of our future games.

Check out Episode 3 in Ars Technica's "War Stories" series here.

The war continues...and this is Brad's biggest battle yet! Check out part 7 of "Humans vs. The Multiverse" and see if today is victorious...or if today is bloody. It's entirely possible it's both!

We live in an age where developers actually brag about creating random quests as if that’s a good thing.

In an age of gigabytes of memory the challenge isn’t in how many worlds you have, it is how to make those worlds compelling.

In Star Control: Origins, there are no random missions.

No episode of Star Trek ever ended with Captain Kirk receiving 14 Dilithium crystals for his troubles.  Star Control is about telling stories in which you are the central character. ...

The new Star Control is moving swiftly!  We expect to release Fleet Battles Beta 2 within the next several weeks as most of our work is focused on the adventure game.

We have been listening to feedback from the fans and incorporated that feedback into the project.

For example, below is a screenshot which shows the updated home solar system:

Our home solar systemSimilarly, the ships themselves have gotten the material system in early.  Originally, this was going to be added lat...
Every few months I write something that incites a twitter mob.  There are people out there are compelled to right the smallest of wrongs by hurling days of abuse at the villain.

As the said villain, I’ve developed many different strategies for dealing with these mobs.

This week’s outrage: A pronoun joke (someone demanding to be referred to as "they" instead of "he" or "she" while referring to the other person as "honey" and siccing her (sorry their) followers on him in whi...

For many of us who work with computers all day, it can get a bit boring to look at the same bland desktop all day long. While Windows has made some improvements to the user interface over the years, it's still the same as everyone else's in your home or office. I like to customize things, especially items I use often, and my PC is no exception.

You can customize your desktop as much or as little as you would like with a variety of custom themes and skins found at WinCustomize.com. I wan...
How will we feed our billions?

In Galactic Civilizations III, we presume that by the time we are colonizing planets, our home world has reached an equilibrium between food production and population.  But let's face it: when we colonize other planets, it'll take many years for those planets to build up sufficient farming infrastructure to produce for the kinds of populations you have on your home world.

Surplus Food

Galactic Civilizations III will be treating food a bit di...
Hi,

I can not upload important updates into Desktop Gadget gallery!

My actions: Login -->  Go to the gadget page --> Edit Skin --> "Click here to chose file" --> Browse to folder with the .zip file and select it as always...

The result: message box: "You can't upload files of this type"  and nothing more...

I've used the different browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome and even Tor) and tried to upload updates many times during the last two days. But ...

Here's the skinny.

I turned a computer into a guinea pig.

For 20 months I used only a firewall, opera and firefox.

The browsers were stock and kept up to date.

The computer OS was not updated.

After the 20 months I scanned the whole computer with

updated windows defender and found nothing.

The computer works great, don't try this at home.

FNC's Shep Smith: "We Are "Failing Our Children" Because We

Can't Figure Out Why They Are Killing Each Other"

Here is a hint.

I am 54 this is how it was when I was in school.

They set the trash can on fire two classes a day.

Spit wads the size of baseballs made out of news paper.

Punched in the back getting on the bus for no reason.

Gum in the hair.

Eggs on the chalk board when the teacher turned her back.

Kids tee shirt said "flunk now beat the rush". ...

Guys, it is with a heavy heart that I pass on to you that I just received a call with bad news.

Our friend, and long time helpful soul in the forums here has died at 2 AM, EST, Thursday, Feb. 15th, 2018.

Wizard1956 has gone to be with his wife in heaven.

Wiz was a lot of help here, and a long time special friend to me. He tested all my DesktopX stuff, and that is how we met.  He and his wife, Theda have visited us here in Tennessee and we spent time with them in I...
